Okay now we are going to talk about a few things here.

First the size of the swatches. The size depends on the size of template you are using. I am playing with some alternatives for how to reduce the left overs. I will post that here soon.

When choosing your fabrics make sure you get good contrast between a dark a medium and a light. These can be made in mirror image. One would have med on the left and light on the right. Then the other would have light on the left and med on the right. The dark can be changed also for more design possibilities.

When you join the cut triangles make sure you match the seams in the middle as accurately as possible. This is the important part. If it is off it will affect the look of your quilt block.

If you make them the way I showed above with full swatches then when you cut the squares in half the leftover half can also be used to sew halves together for a differant block. It will be the same as the Wings Block but have a sharper angle. I included some designs using this leftover half in my EBook.

The leftovers can be pulled apart and recycled into more blocks or other blocks such as HSTs and you can make smaller blocks from resewing the leftovers together. If that is not for you then you can also use them for makign crumb block projects.

This is the wrong way to join these triangles. The seams need to meet in the center

This is the right way to match the seams.

This Block creates an illusion of curves. But as you saw above in the tutorial there are only straight seams in this Block! This Quilt Block will be in the Sampler Quiltalong next weekend Aug 29th. This is a 6 x 6 block grid.
