Default How to Make Lori Holt's Quilt Block Design Board - Fat Quarter Shop

I just watched this video and it's so easy and fun! I want to share it with all of you on QB, probably most of you already have these boards for designing but I didn't! Hope this helps someone other than me.

    Here's the tute http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/...-tutorial.html and here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nSZtoionpA.

When I first saw this, it inspired me to make a portable design board that would stand up next to my sewing machine. For some reason, I need to have my blocks "standing:" when they were lying next to the machine, I STILL managed to mess them up! Definitely not as cute as her's as I didn't put any cute fabric around the edges. But I did end up with two sides, so lay out two blocks at a time. (The one shown is from when I was working on Easy Street, so this must have been early this year. That quilt's done!) It's about 20" x 20" on each side.

Thanks for posting this. I have a full wall design broad, but I think this would great when taking the blocks to the sewing machine to keep them in order. Can't tell you how many times I've had to take the pieces back to the wall design board because I got confused.

Peaceandjoy, thanks for posting the links. I like your larger one better than the small one, but that's because I usually make large blocks.

Thank you for posting the YouTube site. I also have a huge design wall but it is in another room, I am forever getting up to check on the layout,
I will make one of these for each of my sewing friends
