Thanks for sharing the video. I'm sewing a lap throw with many pieced blocks, and my most frequent mistake is not using enough fabric. It looks fine -- until I turn it and realize it's angled the other way!

That's an excellent one, but I found one on this site (somewhere) that I like better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv2gK...eature=related
The reason I like the second one better is because when you're doing seams that have a great angle to them, it easier for me to have trimmed the seam first. Then it seems easier to position the new fabric and have it cover and it seems easier for me to see what's going on.

After re-doing a "great angle" several times to see the way I measured it was inaccurate, not realizing it would be angled the other way, I just used a large piece of material and sewed about in the middle. I figured that way there would have to be enough! It sure wastes a lot of material though.

My avatar is a mariner's compass I pieced. The material for each section were cut out ahead of time and I wasted so much material I could probably make another quilt! I did make one crazy quilt pillow out of some of the fabric and will probably make a bolster pillow out of some more.

Thank you for sharing this youtube tutorial on paper piecing. I have not tried paper piecing yet. This makes me think that maybe I will. Thanks again.

This is the best tute that I've seen for paper piecing. It's always been a bit confusing to me. Thanks!
