Default MITERING YOUR BORDERS.....The Easy Way (video!)

Hello everyone - I've been working on a very special quilt (Son & DIL) wedding quilt, I want things just "So, So"...for the first time I tried mitering the borders. I got pretty good on the forth corner!! on the third corner I found this video on-line and it makes things sooooooooooooooooooooooooo simple. Forget all the special COSTLY rulers...trust me, this works like a champ. I hope you try and LOVE it. I do.

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I have never been able to do a mitered corner. This looks easy. I am going to need to try it.

Default Mitered borders

I just did my second and third quilt using mitered corners. They came out perfect except the last one. Seems like you always have one stubborn one. I did use a ruler doing mine. Next time I might try using the pressing hint.

I've done more than a few mitered borders like this ... super easy. I had actually figured it myself because I'll do anything to avoid math!!

That is the best tutorial I've seen for making miters using the original method. I still find that stripes are difficult to match with that method.

About a year ago I posted a tutorial on the easy method I developed to make borders easily that lets you match stripes on all corners. My method has you make the measurement for the length of the border, cut the 45 degree angles before you even put them on the quilt-no different than fussy cutting any fabric. Works especially well for multiple borders and works every time.
