Default MSQC Periwinkle Quilt

A while ago someone wondered what the pattern of the quilt was behind Jenny. She has a new tutorial up with a modern version of the quilt using the Wacky Web ruler. The antique quilt was called Periwinkle and it is from the 1920's.

Very glad she has this up as a tutorial-can't wait to get started on this. I posted from another thread regarding the name of the quilt behind Jenny. My response was a Snowball quilt, pictured and discussed in BHG Creative American Quilting. The quilt was from the 1930's. Here is another link that says the Periwinkle was also called the Snowball back in the 1930's. Depends on the region and time period the quilting is done. It since is called the Arkansas Snowflake and The Kite Quilt patterns. The quilt in the link (that looks like Jenny's colorings and the one from the book BHG Creative American Quilting) is further down the page.

Mine will be a Periwinkle, as I will be listening to every word and step Jenny shows in order to make one just like hers. Thank you for passing this info along.

Great minds think alike. I was about to post the same thing but thought I'd search to see if I could find the original thread. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaCT...em-uploademail

It actually looks pretty easy.

I watched the video and ordered the template. I'm so glad there's a template, I make spiderweb quilts quite often.

Here's the free pattern for the periwinkle block, also known as Arkansas Snowflake.
http://quilterscache.com/A/ArkansasSnowflakeBlock.html

This makes a 9" block, but I'm sure you could enlarge or reduce as you desire.

I tried making the spiderweb quilt blocks and the periwinkle blocks, but the paper triangles that one with the kit, and they are not symmetrical. The sides are diff sizes and the finished pieces don't line up right. Am I missing something? I wrote to the Missouri Star Co after I tried the spiderweb and they haven't gotten back to me yet. Anyone else get wierd papers in their kits? Thanks!
