$200,000. Quilt

Thought you'd like to see what a $200,000. quilt looks like.

So, contrary to what most husbands think, there can be value in taking a perfectly nice piece of fabric and cutting it up just to put it all back together again!

A $200,000 prize????? Whoa!

RedGarnet222 01-08-2014 05:08 PM

Speechless....

PaperPrincess 01-08-2014 05:18 PM

All her work is just amazing. Really nice to speak with also.

sewingsuz 01-08-2014 06:51 PM

The minute I saw it, I said Lake Michigan. Can't fool a Michigoose. Beautiful scene and different panoramic setting, but $200,000?

Zappycat 01-09-2014 06:55 AM

Wow! It sure is gorgeous! Wonder how that price is determined.

BuzzinBumble 01-09-2014 07:13 AM

She deserves the $200,000 prize! I would love to see this quilt in person - it sounds like it is loaded with wonderful details.

KyKaren1949 01-09-2014 08:20 AM

I would love to see this-each panel is 4 feet by 5 feet-20 feet in length altogether. Beautiful!

Incredibly artistic & beautiful piece of art.

quiltstringz 01-09-2014 09:00 AM

It is a beautiful piece of work, I think that someone posted it right after the contest. This is the first time that a textile piece won, it is open to all sorts of art forms.

caspharm 01-09-2014 11:17 AM

I saw the photo of it when it won. It is a wonderful piece of art.

jitkaau 01-09-2014 03:30 PM

There was one sold in Melbourne for about the same price - so people should not under-estimate the value of fibre art.

Gorgeous! Like looking at the Lake Superior up here in the UP of Michigan

mimiof4 01-09-2014 05:11 PM

Gotta love lake Michigan! and Superior, Huron, Erie, Ontario they are all beautiful in their own right.

Ann entered that quilt in "Art Prize," a huge "all over the town museum of art that lasts a couple of weeks every fall in Grand Rapids, MI. I live about an hr away and spent an entire day there and only saw about 1/4 of the entries! It's huge and just a wonderful way for all of us to enjoy art! Once I saw her piece I knew I was going to vote for that for the peoples choice. It is an incredible work...no picture can do it justice. And Ann Loveless is a very nice person who took the time to talk and answer questions for everyone came to see her piece.

Inspiring!
My pieces are getting bigger but I can't imagine working on a canvas 4'x5'. My new role model.

It is beautiful but someone has a lot of money to pay that.

sweetana3 01-10-2014 04:26 AM

Our guild was lucky to have her as a speaker and to get two workshops. She is a wonderful speaker with great slides and her techniques are easy and creative. I would pay most anything to get her to come again.

lockesnest 01-10-2014 04:57 AM

Saw it in person and the pictures can't do it justice. Simply magnificent!
