Sometimes the binding that I want to put on the front of a quilt just doesnt look that great with the backing. To remedy that situation I make 2 sided binding. (judges love it!) here is a site that explains it very clearly.

Sounds really cool, but I got a little lost... I'm one of those have to see pictures kind of person (even for most cooking LOL)
|
I don't care if the binding color matches the back. Sounds like a neat technique though.
|
Sounds interesting. I never thought about it but why not have a different color on back.
|
Sounds interesting, do you do this only for show quilts or have you done it for everyday-use quilts too? How does the single-layer binding on the front hold up if used, and washed, frequently?
|
Sounds interesting! I will have to make up a little sample and see how it goes. I have a quilt right now that I've been pondering my binding on. I have wood grain on the front edge and a bright green on the back. I was considering a black binding that would look good with the green but just okay with the front. This may be my solution!

Sounds interesting -- I too am a bit concerned about the single thickness on the front (I do like to do reversable quilts with radically different fronts and backs so I like the idea, will have to play with it...)
Thanks. |
Need pictures.

I've used this method a lot and love it. Sometimes I don't have enough fabric to match the top so with just a 1" strip I do and then put the backing fabric on the other half.

Thank you

Thanks, I think I can figured it out by following you instructions.

This sounds very easy to accomplish. It was nice that they gave other size options for the bindings. Thank you for posting this link. I have bookmarked it for reference.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thanks for sharing. I too used the glued bindings, this will work well on different quilts. Again, thanks for the directions.

If there is a seam on the edge, won't it wear faster?
Or have I misunderstood? |
Yes there is a seam. Ive never experienced a worn binding.
