Your so welcome everyone :-D Have fun with it.

Hi crafty lady! Good to see you too. I am just staying in away from all that cold as much as I can this year. I do have some seeds to start soon to tide me over till spring. It is kind of fun to see something growing anyway. Do you wintersow outside??
I bring in a few geraniums and put them into a sunny warm room to overwinter them. They usually bloom all through the winter. That is how I make it through those bleek days of snow and cold.

Nice talking to you ... Have fun with the redwork! :)

what a terrific find!

I copied them...

A question---what do you think the best method to transfer the flower patterns to fabric would be?

craftiladi 01-05-2010 10:02 PM

Red I brought in as many of my outdr. plants as I could possibly stand. This is only 3th yr living back in snow country and all my memories of livng in Seattle are slowly coming back to me...lol.Now I went and added a puppy to my family and she is pulling up several of the 250 bulbs I planted....hmmm..lol.
But still loving it. My yd gets put on hold in the winter and my craft rm gets lonely in the spring & summer.
Take care and thanks again for sharing so much, I came across several helpful links from you today.

There are several different ways to transfer and its been a number of years since i have done it but seems I remember using a transfer pen w/ alot of success.

Thanks for the site you gave. I got Alex's patterns and was wondering about the best way to do this. Have not done this kind of stuff since my girls were small.

RedGarnet222 01-06-2010 02:34 PM

Hi everyone!!
I use a perminent micro tipped pen to transfer my designs in whatever color the embroidery will be. (Ex.- red for redwork) I have used a mechanical lead pencil in the past too. It all depends on the fabric I am working on. I mostly use the window and some painters tape to get the image transfered. I am too cheap to buy the light box I want. LOL!

I don't have a light box so what I usually do is tape the picture on a window with the fabric square on top. Then I just trace over it with a wash away pen/pencil. Don't use the diappearing ink, it disappears before your done. Ask me how I know this.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is how I've been doing it as well.

Thank you, RedGarnet and Craftiladi, for the links you posted. I like pick-up projects like this!

Joan 01-10-2010 09:14 AM

I've decided to fuse fabric to freezer paper and run it through my computer. (using my scanner)

I am tracing the patterns with red so the printed pattern won't show when it is embroidered. (like I think black print would) Hope that is clear....

Yes, I've gotten compulsive about having a "pick up" project for the car. I get a lot accomplished and the miles just fly by...

RedGarnet222 01-12-2010 11:04 AM

She was very generous to share this with us. I am glad you girls are making it. I have a couple ahead of this one from crabapple hill I need to get on. I will be making one of these, but in bluework, I think.
