This looks like a fun BOM link if you've ever wanted to make an Amish quilt. I tried January's block and the instructions were very clear.

How nice of this guild to make them a free download,,

You are going to have to remind us each month that they are there...lol

Moonpi 01-04-2009 01:52 PM

Chele. have you been to their show? It looks easy enough to find off I-4.

sewjoyce 01-04-2009 01:52 PM

Oh what a neat block. I printed it out...thanks for sharing :!:

sewsewquilter 01-04-2009 02:27 PM

Thanks for the link.

Chele 01-04-2009 03:17 PM

Moonpi, I've never been to any quilt shows! I do plan on attending this one though! It will be my first! Meet me over here and I'll buy lunch!

beachlady 01-04-2009 03:55 PM

Going to do this Chele - thanks for posting. Love Amish quilts. May do the January block tonight.

Wish I could meet you and Moon at the quilt show!

Renee 01-04-2009 06:29 PM

I like it! Thanks for sharing, I'm gonna make one.

kd124 01-05-2009 11:52 PM

Thanks Chele! Don't know when I will get to it, but I've been wanting to do an one for a long time. This is a fun one to do a quilt. I am doing my second BOM through a local shop.

retrogirl02 01-06-2009 07:31 AM

What a nice resource! Thanks for sharing.

ksusan 01-08-2009 05:29 PM

Chele, I went to a local quilt shop this afternoon and purchased the fabric required for this BOM series.

I am one happy gal. Thanks for posting this site. It really is very interesting and I am truly thrilled to have this project.

I will call it my mental health project!!!

Piecefully yours,
Kay Susan

I'm a little slow as I just realized that you are in Orlando. My DH lived there for a number of years.

He finally moved back to the Upper Peninsula and we met 36 years after high school graduation. On Monday, we will celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary.

When we were in Orlando two years ago we saw the LaNumba presentation by Cirque at downtown Disney. The show was terrific.

One day I'll never regret is the day I spent by myself at the Orlando Museum of Art viewing the Gee's Bend Exhibit. I was there when the doors opened for the day and managed to relax, read the catalogue and view the exhibits. Ahhhhhhh......

I won't be traveling this winter due to medical restrictions and having used
up all of my sick leave and vacation days thus far during medical leave.
Hopefully, things will get straightened around here and DH will be able to travel to Orlando to see his son. We have beautiful grandchildren who would enjoy seeing Grandpa :)

Piecefully yours,
Kay Susan

Joan 01-08-2009 07:13 PM

Thanks Chele, this looks like a great site!!!

ksusan 01-12-2009 05:44 PM

Chele, I made two blocks today of the January posting.

The colors I chose are saturated jewels, but not typical Amish as the colors have some patterns and the overall result is more contemporary.

It's exactly what I wanted as the result.

Thanks for posting this link. Once I can use the camera and post a pix, I'll contact you, again.

Piecefully yours,
Kay Susan

Chele 01-13-2009 12:06 PM

ksusan, so happy you liked the BOM site. I can't wait to see your blocks! Amish quilts are so striking and bold. I just love them.

Regretfully, I missed the Gee's Bend exhibit. I wasn't interested in quilting then. One day maybe I'll be lucky enough to see it.

beachlady 01-13-2009 12:10 PM

KSusan please post your blocks - would love to see them. I need to get the fabric for this - going to my LQS where I got gift certificates. Will go on Saturday while the house is being shown.

Elizabeth A. 01-13-2009 02:52 PM

Chele that is a pretty block, just what my Spring Sampler needs! :D Are you a member of that Guild?

Elizabeth A. 01-13-2009 04:15 PM

It goes nice and quick too, I just did mine. :)

Chele 01-13-2009 04:56 PM

No, I'm not a member, but I've thought of joining!

GailG 01-14-2009 05:20 AM

I'm going to try to follow this BOM. I just hope my "ADD" doesn't get in the way. I tend to get side-tracked and quit things mid-stream. Hopefully, the reminders will keep me focused.

Elizabeth A. 01-14-2009 06:18 AM

Chele you sound like me. Enjoy the quilt show. :D

beachlady,

Your house is being shown? Why?
Do you go to Kathie's Quilt Shop in Sanford? I get her newsletters.

heh ! thanks for the link.. interesting site.. I like the Amish blocks. I can use my thangles on these.. the two triangles for one square.. interesting way to arrange them. I have some fabric in my stash already.. need the black.. how much black should I buy for this? black has a shade to it.. so I would like it to be from the same bolt.

Here is the yardage info: http://www.floridacabinfever.com/pdfs/2009/fabric.pdf

Looks like 1-1/2 yards of the black. Try it, you'll like it!

gcathie 02-10-2009 06:47 PM

I'm gonna try and do this one too...but I've printed the blocks off to do latter....as time lets me.....So pretty!

It is a terrific show. At Central Florida Fairgrounds. Easy to find. Great bunch of ladies.

cpfrog 09-02-2014 09:44 AM

Hello dear fellow quilters,
On my computer, I came across (in my overloaded list of projects to attempt) the downloads for an Amish look-alike quilt in 2009. I have the 'Fabric cutting' AND the BOM's 'Jan through July' for "A Touch of Amish" (Finished 54” x 69”). Then I wondered why I hadn't downloaded the remaining months...ah, yes...my younger sister became sick, I left for D.C. and she passed away in Aug. 2009.

So, my question is... does anyone have the 2009 Aug. through Dec. BOM .pdf files that s/he would be willing to share? If so, let me know... Can they be shared on this board? or Private Message me and we can do an email?

Thank you for looking through your files.
Regards,
cpfrog

How do I get the pattern?
Followed the link - went to BOM - and that is as far as I can get.

Barb in Louisiana 09-06-2014 05:52 AM

I have one file with all the blocks in it. PM me with your email and I will send it to you. Make sure you say it is the Florida Cabin Fever - A Touch of Amish that you want.

One of these days I am going to get around to making it, but use batiks. It should be a really pretty quilt.
