Another item for my quilting wish list
 

Batting Scissors. I just found out about these on someone's blog and I'm sure I need a pair.

They are a little on the expensive side, but I think they would be a very cool addition to my sewing studio. I have them on my Amazon wish list until I get some extra spending money.

I use my rotary cutter.

I use a giant pair of dressmaking shears that I inherited from my husband's grandmother. Perfect for cutting batting off the roll. Made in Japan, many, many, years ago. Priceless to me, and still sharp!

I use these at my mom's LAQ shop. They are indeed the right tool for the job!

I'll have to look for these. Famore is almost always at the quilting and sewing expos!

I won a pair and the best use I had with them was when my husband was insulating the garage. He had been using a razor blade to cut the insulation and when I saw him do that, I went and got the scissors. Cut thru that "batting" like butter. The job was done in minutes instead of hours. Didn't hurt the scissors at all. I still use them for batting for my quilts, but was wondering if Harbor Freight had something like them at their store for insulation. If they don't, they should!

I want to almost bet that this kind of scissor would be something for the building trade.......I wonder if they also might be a bit cheaper. I don't see me buying them anytime soon...I don't use high loft batting and regular scissors/ rotary work fine for me, but someone......

I have a friend who uses the long shears for wallpapering(I think). She picked them up at a paint and wallpaper store.

One of my kids gave me a cordless electric scissors for Mother's Day and it makes cutting batting so easy! Much cheaper than these, I think.

I got a pair of these at Harbor Freight for about $5 and they work just fine for batting. They aren't super sharp so I
wouldn't use them to cut fabric, but they cut through the bat with no problem.
