another way to sew a perfect seam
This may have been shown before, but so many people ask about the 1/4" seam problem that I thought it might be helpful.
Bonnie Hunter shows another way to sew a perfect seam. When the 1/4" seam is off just a little you might try this method. http://quiltville.blogspot.co.nz/201...gly-smart.html |
Nice tip! Thank you.
Interesting -- I will have to try that. I am surprised she wasn't slowed down.
The distance BETWEEN the seams is the only one that really matters.
Ingenious....now, where is my cardstock?????
I remember when Bonnie first posted this but had forgotten this great tip! Thank you for the post! Hope I remember it this time!
Wish I had seen this about a week ago! :D

I wonder if you could use that long wire quilting attachment instead of cardboard, you know the one meant to help you do parallel quilting lines. I tried to leave this as a comment on Bonnie's page but it wouldn't do it with my Google id.
Fascinating! going to give it a try.
This will come in very handy when d
oing my bargello swirl table topper |
This was terrific! I even shared the link to all my quilting mini-group friends.
jeaninmain, why don't you give that a try and see if it works. I can't see why it wouldn't work. Then you could post the outcome of your test.

wow that is a great idea , thank you for posting !!!

Jean I use "the long"attachment quite a bit.and it works for me..I have only 1 eye and therefore people do not realize I have no dept perception...Try sewing with one eye closed. I think I will also try the cardboard way it seems interesting. good luck witch ever you use.

Wow, you can't imagine how helpful this is to me. I'm going to try it on my next 1/4" project. I often seem to "veer off" either at the beginning or end of my stitching, and this may cure me of that.
Though I'd think it might slow me down, I also think that may be a fair trade-off for a more accurate seam. Thanks for the post and the link! |
Great tip - - thanks so much for sharing.
Looks like a great idea and worth trying.
Nice tutorial... I am always learning something new here on the QB. Looking forward to giving this a test.
So simply. Thanks for sharing.

I printed that out so I won't forget about it. That is one of the best tips I have seen in awhile.
Great idea for precision!
