A more reasonable wooden spool/holder lot here: http://nh.craigslist.org/atq/3509162384.html
Yes, the person is either insane -- or forgot the decimal point!
Personally I think the person is more than a "bit" overpriced.
Hey, it is now a BARGAIN! Reduced from $150!
I knew a lady that worked for a production company. She was sent out to shop for small props for scenes in movies. She had to go to all thrift stores and antique malls, and dealers to find the right props to decorate a room. When Ebay and other sites like that made it easy to shop for items she was so happy. She would pay that much for this if it was for a prop. I've seen her pay over $500 for a vase that had the perfect coloring for a table to be in a movie set. You never know who bids on items.
Bellaboo, thanks for clarafying the insanity for us. I did spend $5.00 to get a box of spools and put it in a glass jar. Wish i had her job!!!!!!
i bet they get the $100 and its such a bargain. there are alot of crazy people as someone else said. but they wont be getting it from me. crazy yes, stupid, no.
A litle out of touch I would say, but then again, "nothing ventured, nothing gained." It will be interesting to see if the come down on the price at some point.
Yep especially since you can by the reproductions at Target for about $10!

http://nh.craigslist.org/atq/3525207924.html That jar looks like an antique jar that my mother used for storing table salt. lol. Could be that it was actually a thread jar who knows. |
Sounds nutty to me, but different strokes for different folks. Who knows? Somebody with more money, than sense might come along and just have to have it.
I think the key to the price is the wooden......(spools)......can't find those at Target!!!!!!!!
Some people think just because it is old it is worth gold. You used to be able to buy wooden spools in craft department, and they are around at estate sales and second hand stores.
I have so many old wooden spools of thread but never thought about dumping into an old jar and putting up for sale! Naw...I'll just put jars and decorate my own sewing areas and/or make a few smaller jars for gifts to sewing friends.
all i can say IMHO is hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahh a
well if that is what they are worth, i have at least 500 dollars worth, and on that note,.....
Silver threads and golden needles may be in that jar, cant tell from afar, but for me, im not stupid are insane, but they will find a sucker somewhere, look they came down from 150.00 to 100 , in this economy,,, and yes i got most of mine from estate sales and for little of nothing and thrift stores, for even less, i reuse the spools for winding my embroidery thread on, i do mine by hand and and also using pipe cleaners and the different sizes they make great people, lol, |
Just imagine! To think that I threw away a fortune several years ago when I was cleaning out to make my cross-country move.
Yes, that is crazy! First of all - the thread is dry-rotted and will break easily. Even silk dry-rots.
I printed the second photo so my son (or me) can make a strip spool holder like that . |
Yep, they are crazy.
I bought a whole box of the thread for $3.00. I put it in my own gallon jar. Maybe I should contact them to sell mine. |
A LOT steep !! LOL so funny to see what people ask for such things but you never know, they may get a bite !
I have quite a few old thread spools, from my grandma's stash ... I've forgotten all about them, so thanks for the idea ... going to get a big mason jar and display them in my sewing room ! |
The ones that I have are exact replicas of that picture. Have been collecting wooden spools for a few years now. I have 3 such jars. Who'll give me $300.00 LOL!!!!!!
I have quite a few of these old jars with that one piece lid. One is even blueish. They belonged to DH's grandmother. Wonder what somebody would pay for some of this stuff.lol
We see it as insane, but they probably see what we are willing to pay for something and think we are insane. Everyone has their own quirks and it is hard to see their point of view some times. I think they are crazy to try and sell it at that price, but I will be surprised if they don't get pretty much what they are asking for it!
I bought 20 wooden spools of various colors of silk thread and 15 wooden spools of regular thread at a yard sale for $5 this summer. I plan on displaying them in a jar or something when I find the right container. They are also still in the original box they came in.
Must be insane. YOU would be if you paid that...lol
That's just an old canning jar with spools of thread in it......vintage I'm sure but I would not pay 100 for it.
