architects and quilting

I work at the University of Michigan in the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning as a department secretary. A co-worker of mine just pointed out the work of a former student.

I loved the coastal quilts:

She also does star constellations and plain white quilts quilted with city maps. This is where she started, as a map for her mother who lost her eyesight.

I thought others might like to see them, I am not pushing sales, I just am fascinated by the creative directions of quilting in all its forms, and wanted to share this one.

Wow, those are neat.

That's very cool. Not sure I'd have the patience for that. I'm impressed with her work.

Interesting concept. I wonder if they are neede turn or fusible raw edge?

I wonder too Tartan with all those details from the coastal waterways.

Thanks for posting this site. The quilts are really interesting and I would love to see one up close. Do you know if they are displayed anywhere?

Laurajbr 04-07-2015 02:37 PM

I have not seen any displayed, but I'll ask her where they might be seen. I noticed after I posted that they sell kits. I cannot imagine how that works.

Her website has some detailed photos and instructions on how she does it and how you can do your own. Look under FAQ. Good luck. I'd love to see some when they are done.

Thanks for sharing - I hadn't seen anything like that before and it is really cool
