backing

I came across this backing on Marshall's Dry Goods, has anyone tried it.
The reason I'm asking is it's only 4.99 a yard and it's 90 inches wide. 15.00 and you've got a printed backing, but how is the thread count? |
We don't have a Marshall's Dry Goods here in Ohio and I have never ordered from them but it's really cool fabric. Depending on the quilt, (if you are selling, keeping, or giving it away) I would try it. It's a great deal.

since thread count in quilting fabrics is much, much less than say, sheets, I wouldn't worry that much about it- at that price it would be worth it to buy enough for one quilt- and try it out- if you don't like the way it feels when it arrives pre-wash it (which generally tightens up the weave if it's loose and softens 'coarseness') and use it for a donation quilt- if you find you love it then take advantage of the price & buy more for future projects.

Had a look and it is 50% cotton, 50% polyester

I ordered Timeless Treasure fabric once from them , was $ 6.49 CHEAPER than our local fabric store & was EXACTLY the same ,Loved it & the cheap price ! I'd purchase from them again !

Ok, I ordered 2 yards, enough for a lap quilt 60 x 60.
I'll let you know |
Have ordered from them and had no complaints. Best all around prices. Just check content and make sure it's what you want

I'm fairly new to quickly and have only used 100% cotton on my quilts. Would it be alright to use this on the back of a quilt? I see a fabric I really like but not sure about the 50% cotton/50% polyester. And would 3.5 yards be enough for a queen sized quilt.

How big are you making the Queen size quilt (no regulation since it depends on the drop)? Figure that 3.5 yds would be 126 x 90 inches. If your quilt was no more than about 80-82" x 114-116(to allow the long armer to have the extra needed to load onto the frame) you'd be fine for the machine quilting. I think you'd be ok for a little bigger quilt if you are handquilting, but not being a handquilting I'm not as sure. |
