I marvel that they can make a hole in that slender shaft of a needle--and thread doesn't eventually snap through the side of it. How do they do that?

I had one sheet printed out from some blog or another, but not nearly as comprehensive as this Schmetz Guide. Thanks so much for the link.

Thank you for this!! I've always wondered about it when I'm just starting to sew... but never thought to ask here... sigh...

Printing this for future reference!

Now that's some great info. I've sewn for years, and didn't know all this. I'll definitely share with my younger friend who is just learning to sew. TFS!

Thank you so much for the info! I saved this for reference.

Thank you for sharing. The schmetz chart is especially helpful. I just wish Schmetz would have kept their old cases. The top of the case was a magnifier and you could read the numbers with ease. I have kept a few old ones for that purpose.

Thank you so much for the Schmetz chart. I use Schmetz needles all the time. I really like their quality and never have any problems.

Thank you very much-all I knew was that there was a difference in size and that I didn't want ball points-this just shows there is always something to learn!
