Use Pinmoors!

Now this is a better mousetrap!

These remind me of these little foam popper things my mom got for my kids a few years back. My son(3) two years ago for christmas got two packs of foam building blocks (they don't hurt when you step on them like legos) I wonder what he would say if I used them to hold pins in my quilts. lol

clem55 07-11-2010 05:17 PM

At least I could see the pins!LOL

amma 07-11-2010 05:19 PM

Their only drawback is their price LOL

Stitchnripper 07-11-2010 05:20 PM

I think someone posted about these a while back and while they look nifty, if I remember, they were very pricey.

littlehud 07-11-2010 05:20 PM

What a cool idea. No more pins sticking my fingers.

oatw13 07-11-2010 05:25 PM

That's a neat idea! I appreciate that she identified the fabrics and he pattern she used. I always want to know about the quilt shown in advertising and they rarely ever show it.

And, I love how she separated out the pins using the magnetic pin cushion! lol

The price is a bit high, though. Especially because I prefer to spray baste and don't pin very often.

Cool tool. It does appear it might be a danger to young children as a choking hazard. Hmm.

craftybear 07-11-2010 06:32 PM

wow, those are expensive

BellaBoo 07-11-2010 10:18 PM

I like using straight pins for basting, it's fast and easy but nothing has worked to stay on the ends of the pins through the whole quilting process. At .04 each for molded non toxic silicone that can be used hundreds of time I think it's a fair price for the value.

They remind me of the earplugs that I used to wear at work.

happy sewer 07-12-2010 05:57 AM

The remind me of marshallows. UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

KeenKountryKreations 07-12-2010 07:32 AM

I always feel dumb putting my 2 cents in - but I use this method, just not the product (yes pricey) instead I use chunky foam craft pieces - you can buy 500 for $5 at Oriental Trading - http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/br...=23-94120873-2

I hope this url works :)

laralea 07-12-2010 10:48 AM

It's a great idea, but it took me a few minutes to 'get it' and that was only after I read Keens post, which was after I watched the video. The pinmoor looks just like my earplugs and if I wanted to use those I could get bags of them at any sporting goods store (used for ear protection when shooting guns) or smaller quantities in the drug store. But I actually like the chunky foam craft pieces idea the best. I'm going to check Hobby Lobby for them and compare prices for bulk earplugs. Thanks to Bella for posting!!

Shirlx 07-12-2010 11:39 AM

Thinking about ordering these. Thanks for the link.

Shirlx 07-12-2010 11:39 AM

The animal foam that is--forgot to post that part.

ekbuckeye 07-12-2010 07:58 PM

Could you use packing peanuts?

BellaBoo 07-13-2010 08:25 AM

I like the fact the molded silicone will stay in place until taken off and the pins will not stick through and it's a one time buy product. I guess any thing you can stick a pin in will work until it doesn't.

Sunflower Girl 07-13-2010 09:33 AM

Good idea!

Mornigstar 07-14-2010 12:23 PM

Just different colors than my ear plugs that I can use for
sleeping.
