Since I have arthritis in my index finger and hand, this is great for me. It is painful for me to do it by hand, and so it takes me forever because I can only do a few feet at a time. This turned out looking really nice, and it was very easy to do.

I wondered about that too! I wear gloves when I'm free motion quilting, but not for what she's doing. Different strokes, I guess.

I think the gloves keep the fabric from slipping as she holds the folds over. Not sure, though.

I don't do it this way, but I want to give it a try. My method takes a long time and is very tedious. I sew my binding to the front, then fold it over and pin it to the back every inch all the way around the quilt, then sew it from the back side. I use Alex Anderson's method and my binding is cut at 2 1/8 inches wide. Like I saidtho, I want to try this method and see if I like it better and see if I can do it in less time and get the same result.

My experience with it is that it turned out really well on my first try--even the corners. My expectation is that with more practice, it will be perfect. I was using black thread on black fabric, and so it was very forgiving. I would recommend something like that for a first try.

Have you seen or tried Sharon Schambers binding method with Elmer's school glue. I use this method and love it, I was skeptical the first time,but tried it and love not having to pin it down. Her website has been updated and is a lot faster now. She has this on her free section but you do have to register to view it.
