Bought two new quilting rulers at Lowes
I was looking around in DH's workshop and saw a long metal ruler. He said it isn't a ruler it's a straight edge. I thought this is just what I need to mark some cross hatching on a quilt top and to use to square up the quilt. It was 4 ft long. I went to Lowes to buy a new one (his was dirty and he didn't want to have to look for it when he needed it). I came home with a 4 ft and a 6 ft for less then $20. They are metal but not too rigid or heavy. 2 1/2" wide.

Great idea. I love looking through Lowes, Menards, etc. to see what I can use for quilting, crafting, etc. I'll keep this idea in mind. Thanks for sharing.

I think they are for measuring and cutting drywall but they work great in the sewing room!

i also use mime to get the same height on all the yew trees when i am pruning. never thought about using it for marking quilts. hmmmm ...guess i'll just have to go shopping at Lowes and buy a clean one for quilting!! :o thanks onebyone!!

I've been using one of these plus the 90 degree ruler that matches. They are much cheaper than quilt rulers.

I took my DH T-square and it works great for cutting my batting off the roll. No more crooked lines for me

I have had one for years. You'll be surprised at how many uses you have for it!!
