what is a brown bag quilt?
|
This is the reason for the name "Brown Bag Quilt". This quilt top is put together in completely random order, without matching fabrics. After you’ve cut all of your rectangles, put them all in the brown paper bag and shake it up good. As you start assembling the rectangles into squares, reach in the bag and grab two rectangles (don’t peek) and sew them together. Keep on this way until you have sewn all the rectangles together in pairs. You will have 96 pairs, 4 1/2" X 4 1/2"

Thanks Sondray---what a cute way to use up a lot of scraps!! Got it bookmarked

Someone did this at a retreat and when they weren't looking the cleaning crew thought it was garbage and threw away all of their pieces.

The quilt I'm working on for the UFO challenge is a Brown Bag Quilt. It helped me get over some of my "quilting shoulds and shouldn'ts" because you might end up with two squares of the same fabric next to each other but you are not allowed to switch once you choose your fabric. It was fun and very liberating. lol

I am cringing thinking of that happening. The quilt group must have wanted to throw the cleaning crew in with the fabric, or were they able to retrieve it? |
My understanding it was gone.
