thanks!

cizzors 01-04-2011 07:27 PM

How exactly does this work? I've had some yardage for a while and this would be perfect for it. I see the cutting instructions and can tell from photo how to piece it. I just feel I'm missing something from it :)

Does every block stay on the blog or will the previous block be pulled and replaced by the new one?

Thanks for explaining-this will be my first (I hope!)

Carol Carter 01-04-2011 07:35 PM

I have th perfect set of fat quarters. Lets give it a try.

I was wondering the same thing...!! I think I might want to try doing this too...

websydhan 01-05-2011 05:56 AM

lindagor 01-05-2011 06:09 AM

I'm joining in too! Already have it half finished.

pvquilter 01-05-2011 06:35 AM

plan on joining also. need more info tho.

OmaForFour 01-05-2011 06:59 AM

I looked at this site but found no info on future blocks. I can figure this one out from the picture but would like to know how I will be able to obtain future blocks as well.
Thanks so much.

I would like to join in also, but don't know how to sign in to get future block information???

Lakelady 01-05-2011 09:08 AM

I would love to do this one, but also need more info. I can get the first blocks but will be leaving in a few weeks and would like to know if I can still get the last of the blocks when I get back.

pvquilter 01-05-2011 09:26 AM

Is anyone checking how we can get the rest of the blocks?

TexasGurl 01-05-2011 09:44 AM

Thanks so much for the link! I'm going to do this. I really need to use more of my CW stash!
I assume she'll be posting the new block each week ... ?

zennia 01-05-2011 10:58 AM

I have read and re read. I am missing something.

It's on the first post (Jan. 1) She shows the block photo and the cutting directions below, with a correction in red. It is all cutting for HST. (2 7/8" sq - 6 light, 6 med & 4 dark - then cut into HST (32). There's no block diagram, I think she expects us to go by the photo.
Also, click on the Sets & Fabric Ideas (to the left) she gives some fabric req. & a sample setting /size.
Hope this helps! :)

OmaForFour 01-05-2011 02:01 PM

This is going to be fun! We just need to remember to log in to her site on the first of each month.

She says it will be a block of the WEEK ... if you click on the Sets & Fabric Ideas (on the left) she says 52 weeks = 52 blocks ... so we'd better get BUSY !! :)

OmaForFour 01-05-2011 02:27 PM

OH! I better look each week then! LOL

Thanks for the link.

jumpin' judy 01-05-2011 05:35 PM

Thanks for the link. I love anything Brachman does. I am digging in my sizeable CW stash and picking out fabric as I write!

Alondra 01-05-2011 08:06 PM

Thanks so much for the link. That will be interesting, with the history and all. One a week should keep us all very busy.

jitkaau 01-05-2011 08:16 PM

Thanks for the info. I started it today. Apart from the historical interest, I want to make a CW quilt.

zennia 01-06-2011 05:31 AM

TexasGurl, Thank You. I saw the first block but totally missed the explanation on the side bar. I love civil war fabrics/patterns so I really was interested in this. Going to put it in my favorites for sure.

kathyd 01-06-2011 06:50 AM

I also found this blog last night and thought it was very interesting. I enjoy history and the history that goes with quilt blocks and Brackman is good at what she does. I am going to try to do these blocks and hope that if I forget to look each week that I can back-track and get a missed pattern. On most blogs you can go back to older posts (check at the bottom or to the right and it will list them). I'm thinking the more scrappy the better on this quilt.

Thank you so much for the blog site. I think I will try to do this too. I love the first block.

OmaForFour 02-06-2011 08:16 AM

This is a great site for the pics of the blocks. Where do I find the instructions for the blocks? Do I just do a search or will it be on a specific site?

IngeMK 02-06-2011 09:20 AM

the drawings of the blocks are in the link posted on the original post, just work your way down the blog. this weeks block gives me a headache
I am even considering paper piecing

OmaForFour 02-06-2011 09:46 AM

Thanks for the info. Paper piecing it might give me more of a headache since I have yet to try paper piecing. LOL

PegD 08-25-2011 05:50 AM
