Color Palettes

I stumbled on this great website and I think it could really help me with expanding my ideas on color palettes. I tend to pick a main color and a neutral (usually grey or white), and have trouble visualizing what colors would work together. So I end up with a lot of mono-chromatic stuff.

Anyway, what do you all think? The website is design-seeds.com

That's great how they have them in groups to show what looks good with other things. Do they have a way to put them all together to show all of them?

I believe they release an ebook every year.

My usual way of avoiding having to make up my own combinations of colors is to find a print fabric I like and buy fabric in the colors of the print.
I might go all fussy-fussy about getting exact matches if I went by the Design Seeds book, but that's me, Mrs Fussy!
But it is very pretty!

I went to several hardware stores and got those paint color strips. You can lay them out and mix them up to your hearts content. Then when you have a mix you like take them with you to the fabric store.

I've been pinning palettes from Design Seeds for years. Every once in a while there's one that I add to a special folder on my computer which I know will make an absolutely stunning quilt.

Keep in mind that colours show up differently on different monitors. Nevertheless, some of the colour combos are inspirational whether on the computer screen or printed to take shopping. Finding the "perfect" colours may take several years but that's OK! :D

Nice site; thanks for sharing it with us. Color combination are one thing, but remember value plays a big role in quilting also.

Thank you so much for sharing this site with us. I've saved it to my favorites bar and will get paint samples to match when I can.
