So....we're all doomed! LOL I guess this is just the way of the world now, everything being made to be disposable and outsourced so we don't know who made what and where. You need a cheat sheet to go machine shopping!I can see it all now..a bunch of ladies with notes scrawled on our wrists as the salesman wheels and deals us!

I had the same problem Yooper 32.

Yes, they chose an unfortunate color combo. If you run your cursor over the text, it will highlight it and you can read it.
Also, remember that this informative article was published in 2007 - 2009 so it is a bit dated. For the most part the info still applies, especially regarding dealers' support, but supplement it by doing research with info with more current articles before making a purchasing decision.

I know about the gray font... I had to do the same thing. It's comforting to know, though, that I'm not the only one :)

The article is from 2007 and edited in 2008. I did my research last year for a new sewing machine and it seems that there have been more changes in the industry since then. As just a couple of examples, the Pfaffs and Vikings aren't quite as venerated anymore. It seems the consensus is that the quality has gone down for both brands. The Babylock brand has a lot of bang for your buck, being that it is so feature rich compared to other brands. Naturally, that makes people love them. Juki is now a serious player and shouldn't be disregarded altogether.

In full disclosure, I bought a Pfaff Ambition 1.0 and it is super finicky. I have serious tension issues. I have taken it in so many times for repairs. The technician finally admitted this last time that this is just not a machine meant for quilting. It was intended for sewing. So I have learned the hard way that your search has to go beyond brands, and testing out machines, to finding machines that work well for quilting. It complicates things immeasurably. Especially, if you are a newbie and have never sewn before.
