Continental Dry Iron

There have been several threads lately about irons, and I just wanted to let everyone know that Amazon.com has the Continental dry iron for $28.98, with free 2-day shipping if you are a Prime member. If you are looking for a dry iron, this is the best price I've seen for it.

This is a wonderful iron for fusibles and if you don't use steam. It is not a lightweight iron and does much of the pressing work by itself, gets hot quickly, stays hot, and doesn't have an automatic shut off. There are some members who weren't happy with this iron, but most of the members who posted about it were happy with it. I have dropped mine twice from a sitting height but the iron just kept on working.

For those that don't have Amazon Prime: It's $29.99 with free shipping here: http://www.always-free-shipping.com/...-dry-iron.html

I had read many great reviews about this iron, so I bought one thru Home Depot online. Sorry to say, I am taking it back. It will not stay hot, and varies from hot to cold. At first I thought it was the outlet, but I tried it in several outlets and even a few power strips. I don't know if it's just a lemon in the bunch, but I was so disappointed. I am back to using my old steam iron, but without water.

You must have gotten a defective one. How frustrating! So far mine has worked just fine and it's several years old, I think going on 5 years old.

This iron is free shipping on Amazon just because the price is over $25. When I buy from Amazon I always look for the line that says "Eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping". The Prime is only required if you want it in 2 days. With Super Saver it normally takes about a week. I've never signed up for Prime because there's not much I have to have in 2 days, and because 2 days can be 3-4 if you live in a rural area.

I love my continental iron also. It really beats a steam iron with no water every day of the week.

Don't buy the "seasonal sale" items from HD or Lowes. I used to work for HD and I can tell you that those items are "seconds" that they bought super cheap. Just about all of them that we sold were returned right after Christmas because they didn't work. Lowes has a small appliance section year round that appears to carry name brands and is probably better than those "come on" items.

If the purpose of this particular brand of iron is weight and heat may I suggest going to a second hand store and picking up a vintage brand or at least an older one. I found a couple which are perfect for this purpose. Lot cheaper than $25.00,
