I was thinking about what if you DO want the prairie points to be all different? I suppose you could take squares, maybe charm squares, and draw a quick line down the center. Lay them out in the order you want and just start feeding them through the sewing machine with a very small seam allowance like 1/8" just to hold them, alternating one on top, one on bottom. Or maybe they wouldn't need to be alternating top and bottom, just lay the next one on the center line of the last one as you come to in when sewing. I'll have to try it.

I have no idea how regular prairie points are done... maybe just like that so this is nothing new!

I'm going to do this http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/19232.page this evening with some of my blue and whites. I loved Chele's so much - and the pattern tells you how to do prairie points all different colours - I've never done them but always wanted to! Here they're between two borders, but I guess if you want them at the very edge, you'd pin in the same way to the edge of the last border, on the right side, then sew on your binding instead of the outer border - but I'm prepared to be corrected!
I'm not sure yet if I'll use the same fabric or not for the points on my blue and white - but if I do, I'll try this method!

Let me know how it comes out. I have been thinking of a prairie point type border for the giant dahlia but using the last "petal" template for the points.

I need to figure out what size the points would be and then what the overall quilt dimensions would need to be so that they are evenly spaced. Because I would use one of the templates and I want it to actually be that shape I think I would sew them right sides together with a white backing, turn them right side out, then sew them onto the edge.

I saw some little fans round a collar at the Dutch quilt exhibition I went to - it looked like they were done the way you describe, Pam.
