Craft table sold out of this project.
My town has a festival with vendors at the city park this weekend. I helped my friend set up her church booth and I donated 12 sets of these:
http://christmas.organizedhome.com/c...der-dish-towel They sold out to other vendors that were setting up. We sold them $4 each. The towel and potholder were $1 each to buy. Dollar General has lots of Christmas theme ones out now. If you are looking for a craft sale table item this may be a good seller. |
Well, that's pretty neat and it looks like it would be quick too. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the link! Cute and easy for Christmas gifts too.
|
Thanks for the link - those would make great gifts for many folks.
|
I have been making these for several years now for my own kitchen. So easy and so handy to have hanging up right in front of you.
|
Very cute. I think these would sell well at my church's bazaar too. Easy Christmas gifts to keep on hand

I think I would run the gathered edge through the serger. I can see the towel edges falling apart if the raw edges are left with only one sew on them.
|
Thank You for the cute idea. I needed something quick to make for our groups sale. This looks like the answer.
|
Oh thanks for the link!

Thanks for the tute. The American Legion Auxiliary hosts a holiday bazaar in November and a Silent Auction in December. The Silent Auction is a fundraiser for our Vets. These would make great gift ideas!! Any other quick and easy ideas will be greatly appreciated!!

That is a great idea. My DIL and her Mom made something similar, which I copied for the next year's Fair at my church, and they were a hit. When I was making things for the craft table at the Fair, most of my items were sold before the Fair started, but it all went for a good cause.

Love the idea. I have to try it.

Neat item; thanks for the link. Every now and then I see a really pretty tea towel; now I know what to do with one when I find it!
|
I have made these for years. Everyone loves them!

Thanks for the link. Cute towels and easy too.

[QUOTE=jitkaau;6943224]There doesn't appear to be a raw edge in this method, it looks like it is folded over into a double towel hanging down from the middle. [Quote]
You are right. Went and looked at the tute again. What I thought was a raw edge was the gathering stitches. All my hanging towels are only one layer, but there are many times I wish there was more there. I'll have to start making a few of these for myself. |
Great idea! Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing..

I have made many of these over the years, but it seems like I have a more difficult time finding a nice matching potholder and kitchen towel; most have an oblong potholder (I use it anyway) and a matching mitt that I have no use for but usually include it with the gift and usually use a matching towel to make a plastic grocery bag holder. My daughters and daughters-in-law expect the potholder/towel every Christmas, along with the knitted dishcloths and a machine embroidered dishtowel---do I have them spoiled????. I like them because they stay 'put' in lieu of being found laying 'somewhere in the kitchen'. Thanks for sharing the tute for others.

I used the rectangle, square and round pot holders. They all worked fine. I check loop size more then shape. . My DD picked out solid color potholders with a print towel for her gifts to give to co workers this year. She bought the better quality towels and cheaper potholders. She wanted the potholder sewn closed so the less quality potholder was fine for this.
|
I'm going to check out the dollar store tomorrow, I know I did these last year and thats where I got the towels with the matching pot holders. Thank you for reminding me.

I've made so many of these I have streamlined the sewing. I pleat the towel by sight to fit the width of the potholder. I like the pleats better then the gather. Sew across the middle back, double stitch at each end. Sew on a button and I'm done.
