Dear Jane cheater cloth

I found this site that has Dear Jane cheater cloth on sale.

How fun! After seeing an amazing cheater top on QB quilted, I have a whole new appreciation for pre-printed panels.

Toni C 01-30-2013 09:56 AM

Now thats probably the only way I'm going to do a Dear Jane. LOL

auntpiggylpn 01-30-2013 09:57 AM

That is nice! It says that it is a kit and comes with the quilt top, binding and the pattern - If it is a cheater cloth, I'm confused as to what "pattern" you would need!!!

Jingle 01-30-2013 10:13 AM

As far as I am concerned, nothing used in quilt making is a cheater. All fabrics are in the game. Only way I would make a dear jane quilt.

Jan in VA 01-30-2013 10:31 AM

You've got it, Jingle. That's why I call these "efficiency panels"....there's really no *cheating* involved, you still have work to do quilting them!

How neat Susanna! Thanks for posting it.

That's so true Jingle & Jan. We should all start using your term Jan. "Efficiency panels" .... Love it!

Tartan, did you mean this one by Linda D? http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t212297.html

nygal 02-01-2013 07:40 AM

I was unable to find any Dear Jane fabrics at all on that link above.

okie2tx 02-01-2013 09:37 AM

I couldn't find it either but if anybody does find it, please post it. Sounds like fun!

BuzzinBumble 02-01-2013 09:59 AM

You know what - I bet they sold out. I googled and found another quilt shop carrying it:
http://www.ozquilts.com.au/dear-jane...el-p34216.html

Also a comment and a cute project on Flicker:

And a great picture in a post from our very own GrannieLOU:

I have these from a quilter's estate sale. They are pieces from a panel, representing 20 different blocks; currently in six pieces. I thought at one time I would use them for quilt labels, but I will probably not use them, so will sell for $2 (All) plus postage.

AnnaF 02-01-2013 01:17 PM

That shop is in Australia shop so the shipping will be pricey for sure!
Anna

MS quilter 02-01-2013 02:10 PM

Jan, I call them "instant" quilts or whole cloth. Both terms fit, but I really like your "efficiency panels" !!!

MS quilter 02-01-2013 02:11 PM

Jenny, I'm interested. What would shipping be?

nygal 02-01-2013 02:46 PM

A few weeks ago I emailed that source in Australia for information on ordering the DJ cloth and they never responded to me. I guess I'll have to be happy with the real one I made.

sweetana3 02-01-2013 03:07 PM

Back Door in Greenwood, Indiana had some on the clearance rack. Not sure how much.

tesspug 02-01-2013 03:11 PM

Ozquilts doesn't charge much at all for shipping. I just ordered two panels.

wordpaintervs 02-01-2013 06:00 PM

Liked what I saw a lot but didn't see cheater cloth there, so may not have clicked on the right stuff.

I also looked everywhere. Typed in a number of things and still came up empty. Hope someone
can come up swith the answer.

NannaL 02-01-2013 06:49 PM

Ozquilts is very good to deal with.
baystitch.com.au has the triangle boarder print "Dear Jane ll" 32708-x
for sale. I have both these fabrics but I have not made the quilt as yet with fires and floods too much else on the plate.

Thank you for posting for I couldn't find it either.

themachinelady 02-02-2013 08:26 AM

Could not find it on the site. Could they have removed it after being sold out perhaps?

KalamaQuilts 12-07-2023 06:46 AM

warning warning.... 2013 post.

I'm wondering if anyone has a few pieces of this fabric in their stash I could buy to incorporate into a BOW I'm doing next year in 1800's fabrics.

I spent a long time this morning looking for cheater cloth, but what I've found is in all the worng colors to work.

1CharmShort 12-07-2023 09:58 AM

Kalama, I am ignorant about these fabrics but does this help at all?

KalamaQuilts 12-07-2023 10:33 AM

close :) that is the side triangles and miles too much, but thank you very much for looking for me!
the center blocks were 4.5" and a few could be incorporated into my project, just because making that quilt was a wild ride :) and made me a much better block maker.
I gave my book and templates to a member here or I'd bestir my stumps and figure out something to add.

it's a whim really :) thanks again.

dunster 12-07-2023 08:11 PM

"bestir my stumps" is an expression I hadn't heard before. I understand the meaning, but I'm curious. Is it a regional saying?

Kalama, there are at least two sites online that offer paper piecing patterns if you'd like to incorporate a few DJ blocks - my favorite is https://www.hobbystash.com/category/dear-jane/
like to
Marianne

KalamaQuilts 12-08-2023 07:33 AM

thanks Marianne, it's been so long since I've been in the DJ loop I'd forgotten all about those.

Dunster...Rob once said I talk like a hillbilly, what ever that is, and probably not legal to use the term anymore.
But 'fer cryin' upstairs in a bucket, I yam what I yam :)

edited to add: Marianne...that was a trip down memory lane! thanks again~

OMG, you did it again! Please keep using your down-home expressions on the board. It makes me smile every time.

Diana - read the recent posts. We're not wasting our time. Everyone is aware that the post started in 2013, but the replies are current. And sometimes the old posts bring up good memories, and even new ideas.

Lady Diana 12-10-2023 07:21 AM

my post was posted prior to 2023 posts, not sure why it was on here much later...of course i enjoy recent posts. I was not disrespecting any new posters. I enjoy all of you, everday.
