If you ordered the cutting blades online from Harbor Freight, I just received an e-mail from them saying my blades have been shipped w/ a tracking number to boot!
So if your store does not have them..........you can order them online! Can't wait     |
I just received an email, too! In fact, a few days ago I received a postcard in the mail stating that unless I returned half of it stating that I still wanted my order, they would cancel it!! Now I'm anxious to see if the blades actually arrive!!!
i rec'd a card last week showing they were on back order. still looking for e-mail confirmation of their shipping.
I went to a local harbor freight store to see if they had any blades for sale..the sales girl told me they were no longer going to carry them in the store only on line, don't know if that was only that store or others too, but the price on line went up a little, still worth buying ....
I ordered before the price went up....but still worth it even with shipping...........I received a tracking number as well with my e-mail....I will let you all know when I have them in hand! :-D :-D
I have to wonder if she knew what she was talking about -
I'm not saying she doesn't, just wondering - because these blades they carry are intended for the carpet cutters, and the carpet cutters are used by contractors and home improvement people -- who are not going to be real thrilled to find out they cannot run down to the local Harbor Freight and get their replacement blades whenever they need them, rather that they will have to go online and order in advance. Not going to happen, to my way of thinking. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes. .

I went to my local freight harbor store and had to buy the whole set up for the three blades in there. I bought three sets. It was considerably less than buying the blades meant for quilting cutters.
Here is what I figured out. The blades are thicker and do not stay as sharp as long. True that they are less money, but not as good as the real thing. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. |
I'm still using the first one of the blades I bought, still sharp. I run through even the "expensive" blade pretty fast, though.
So I'm as pleased with these HF blades as with the "brand name" blades. |
Still waiting for confirmation they are sending mine.
Geeeeeeeeeee maybe I will think a little harder before I post to this board again :-(
I've been waiting for my blades for weeks. They have been on back order and I haven't received any notice they have been shipped. Maybe I should check in again with them.
Yep, me, too--waiting to hear the mail man coming down the street--I think my HF blades should be here today! ooops--guess I'm waiting for the FedEx guy!
I had an email this past Monday from HF.
They have shipped my blades and sent a tracking #. |

I ordered but have not seen any up date on the order. They sent me a card saying they were back ordered a couple of weeks ago. Maybe mine will be shipped next.
If you ordered from HF & received your blades, how do they compare to the regular blades? Do they seem to cut about the same, last longer, is you mat holding up? Maybe I will try the local hardware store to see if they carry the blades.

I went to Harbor Freight this week, as I had a coupon. However, the salesgirl never heard of 45mm rotary blades used for sewing. I looked through the entire store and couldn't find any, either. I just ordered a ruler with a sharpening edge for rotary blades, and I'm going to see if that works.
They are not carried at Harbor Freight for sewing.
They are carried as replacement blades for rotary carpet cutters. They are hung on hooks with the rotary carpet cutter itself that has blades included, and then as packages of 2 blades as replacements for that cutter. Just so happens they fit our quilting rotary cutters!

Got my card today they will ship on the 8th. Yippee!I won't need blades for 5 or more years.
Thank you!
My HF store said they don't have them in the store or warehouse. Should a month or so for them to be shipped. They come by boat.
Went to my local HF and bought four of the carpet cutters. Asked the girl at the register if they had any replacement blades and she very rudely informed me that they DO NOT sell the replacement blades. I called a manager and he took me to the empty hooks that would hold the replacement blades if any were there. He then had a 'word' with the cashier.

I also recieved a postcard last week telling me mine was again backordered. Hope I get a email soon
well, I got my shipping notice last week with tracking number on it--and now the tracking # says my blades were delivered yesterday by USPS. not. I'm really thinking that tomorrow may be the day???? If not, you are going to hear some major howling coming from Colorado. I'll keep you posted!
