It's like asking "Does a chef do dishes?" You bet they do. I have a neat little trick for hemming jeans and it's been popular with quilters. If you have a stack of jeans in your sewing room just waiting to be hemmed, have a look at my tutorial. I'm sure you'll be able to get those jeans done in a jiffy.

Thanks for the help with the seam area. I never thought of that. Being short I always have to hem, even the short ones sold by companies. I've broken even jeans needles not using your method with the side seams.

I do alterations and I get a lot of jeans to hem. Here is my trick....use a jeans needle, fold the hem, and using a hammer and a small oak or other hardwood board covered in flannel, give the seam two or three raps with the hammer. The seam is flat and the foot goes over it very nicely. TRIED AND TRUE!

Great idea! I have to hem lots of jeans at our short little house.

Memotherx, I've used the hammer method too, and it works great.

Much easier that what I have been doing. Thanks for the lesson.

That's the way I hem jeans too. It makes such a flat seam.

Wow that is a lot easier than using the jean jumper plastic piece and going very very slow over the seams. Thank you. This will be great now I can do hubby's Christmas jeans a better way.
