Drunkard's Path
1 Attachment(s)
I visited a link on Pinterest for using a coffee filter to do Drunkard's Path blocks and I had to try it today. The site is quilterwoman.blogspot.com.au and it is on the right side of the page under popular posts and click on the coffee filter.
My filters were a different size then hers but the technique worked well and was very easy. I ironed my filter flat and then folded it in quarters and marked the spots and then ironed it flat again. I placed the filter on the RIGHT side of the fabric, pinned it and straight stitched around it. I will post some pictures. |

I cut the circle in quarters using my ruler to match up the marks.

I turned the circle pieces right side out and pressed them.

I cut some squares, pinned the 1/4 circles to the squares matching the corners and used a buttonhole stitch along the curved edges.

I trimmed away the extra background fabric and the paper from the back to the 1/4 inch seam allowance. I could use those trimmed background and coffee filter pieces to do smaller 1/4 inch circles if I wanted . Here is what they look like. Nice 4 blocks but now what do I do with them?:D

Super idea ... love it!

I am really impressed with this! I have not tried circles and this seems to be one I can do. Thanks Tartan!
|
Make more and then divide up so that there are four different quarter circles in each block. How colorful!!
|
I believe I can do this. Thanks for the tute. Yours makes it more clear.

Thanks for the quick tutorial! Great! I made a purple and green quilt top recently in the "Eclipse" pattern, which I posted here. Have fun!

Rather then put the pieces in the orphan block pile, I made one more in the opposite colours for a table runner. I had fun playing with the arrangement. Which do you like better? This one

Well I wonder what poor unsuspecting soul is going to be gifted this table runner this Christmas? :D I used the cut away pieces from the Drunkard's Path to make a Christmas tree for the center. I will finish appliquing it on and then ad the star and buttons after quilting.

That is awesome...Who ever thought of that....
|
so in doing this with the filters there will be a small seam with filter left in right?
|
so great. Gotta keep this idea.
|
Ohhhh I like the first one as a table runner.
so in doing this with the filters there will be a small seam with filter left in right?[/QUOTE yes, there is a small bit of the filter left in the seam after you trim the background and filter seam to the 1/4 inch.
