Easy Holiday Ball Ornaments

Here is a tutorial I came across for making Holiday Ball Ornaments or to put in a bowl for holiday decoration. There is no sewing or gluing.

WOW -- haven't thought about making these in a million years. When my kids were young a friend received one as a gift and I fell in love with it, played a bit (this was pre-internet days when we had to figure out things ourselves if we couldn't find the pattern) and the kids and I made at least a dozen -- over the years they improved and so we had a record of their achievements. Thanks for the link!!! Great memories!!

Yes, I figured they were made many years ago, but I had not seen them so I thought maybe some others like me might like the idea. As you said too, it would be a good thing to do with one's children without worrying that they would hurt themselves.

I am glad it brought back some nice memories for you. I have had that happen too, and it is such a nice feeling.:)

A real trip down memory lane. I made decorations like these in the 1970's. Isn't it just grand that our memories are now being enjoyed by new crafters?

Thanks for sharing this, I have not seen them before. I'm certainly old enough to have but my mom wasn't crafty so I wasn't exposed to fun things like this. Plus we probably didn't have the money to buy the styrofoam balls. This will be a great project for my granddaughters and I to make this year.

Me too! My BFF's mom showed me how to make these years ago, but we used the back of a butter knife instead of the chopsticks.

I made a bunch of these in the 70's as well -- back in newlywed days when money was scarce. I used a metal nail file for poking in the edges. The pointed end was perfect for tucking down into the ball but leaving very narrow "seams" between the pieces. Glad for the reminder -- great craft for the grandkids.
