That's a whole lotta bitsy blocks, Boo! Are you gonna make all of them? Can I start quilting you a straightjacket??
|
They not so small. Leslee, they are 6" blocks. But yes you may quilt me a straight jacket, as I may need it after attempting the HQ.

Hmmmm...a 6" Mariner's Compass? No thank you, m'dear!! I'm not up to speed on the paper piecing thing yet.

Now, that is something...... very very nice... what a job though !!!
I am looking for the name of a pattern.... take a square and sew over two opposite corners a half triangle... now, what is that called please? I would like to look it up somewhere so I can work out how to put the squares together to make a quilt.... I can only think of two ways but there must be other ways. Many thanks, Joy. |
Joy--I'm guessing "Square within a Square" if there's a half-triangle sewn to each opposite side of the square. Look at the link Boo posted, about the bridal sampler quilt. Does it look like the last block on the pattern page, the Friendship Diamond? If so, click and print! :D
|
Thank you Leslee for replying.... I had a good look at those blocks last night and the one you mentioned has the half triangle on four sides and the one I am looking for has only two on opposite sides from each other... Many thanks for that anyway.... I have seen it somewhere in the past .... maybe on the Simply Quilts show, but not sure. Joy.

Oh I know now what you talking about. That block is sometimes called the indian hatchet block or the shooting star. It is on Marcia Hohn's Quilter's Cache site.
