Explosion and Fire at the home of David Taylor, Quilter Extraordinaire
http://thequiltshow.com/daily-blog/1...cf61ab663463fc
David spoke to my quilt guild earlier this month. Included in the presentation were slides of his huge stash, meticulously sorted and stacked. My heart goes out to him. He is a very talented quilter, speaker, and teacher, so I hope he quickly bounces back from this catastrophe. |
What a blow. Thank goodness he was not in the house. I wasn't familiar with him, but I see that his work is gorgeous.
My best friend took his class offered thru the guild. Thanks for posting it. He taught an interesting method for machine quilting. I hope she has time to share in more detail when we meet next Wednesday.
I bet he is freaking out right now! Sure insurance will cover the damage but his stash will be hard to replace if it can't be saved
Oh! how tragic. I'm glad he was not home when this happened, but feel so bad for what he has to deal with now. I am curious to know how snow could trigger an explosion. I have a propane fireplace log set and it scares me every time I turn it on.
I heat with propane and a couple of years ago the snow built up over the roof vent and caused the pilot light to go out, we couldn't get the pilot lit & called a furnace repairman, thank goodness, cause the pilot going out allowed gas into the house, creating a danger of an explosion. We were just lucky that it happened in the daytime & we caught it timely.
How horrible, the pictures show the damage and it looks extensive. I would be heartbroken if it were me.
WOW !! That is truly terrifying. Looks like a war scene...I wish him the best.
What a shame. Another report stated that they thought ice and snow damaged a gas line causing the explosion.
Sad...the report stated a duplex...so did any of the other units have damage or just his. Never heard of snow on roof causing an explosion......wonder if the building/complex will now be liable for faulty construction......thank goodness no fatalities...altho losing things is heartbreaking, the lost of life is far worse......
