Fabulous machine quilting pics on pinterest
I was seeking some ideas for how to quilt a French Braid and somehow I landed here:
http://pinterest.com/caroldb/awesome-machine-quilting/ I don't think I will ever look at machine quilting the same way again! Of course, it's way out of my range and I will plod through some SID and make FMQ curlicues - LOL! But it's good to get some perspective on where I am in the quilting continuum. |
Wow, there is some awesome quilting on that link! I love that rainbow french braid and the quilting done on that. It is gorgeous! I did one with a swirly pattern. I took some paper, marked the length of the braid section, and drew a wavy line with my wavy ruler, then I drew curliques off of that. I pinned it to the quilt and roughly followed the pattern. It came out great and was a good design for the french braid. I was pretty proud for a "beginner" in the FMQ category.

I am in awe at those! My perspective on my quilting leaves me lacking.....big time.! But I sure do love looking at what others are capable of doing.

Wow Sue! You aren't kidding! You just enticed me into joining Pinterest!

The quilts on Pinterest are so beautiful. I'm just finishing up a little (24 x 36") Christmas wall hanging and was thinking about trying my hand at FMQ but I don't want to ruin it. I watched some videos yesterday on how to do it and they stresses practice, practice, practice. I don't think if I practiced from now to doomsday that my quilting would EVER look like those I just saw. I think I'll find someone who knows what they're doing and help their income a little!

I have anxious to ask a question. How much does custom quilting like that cost? I have only had my quilter do edge to edge because she says it is too expensive.

That was beautiful and a real eye-opener - - it also reminded me I have a membership to that Pinterest site - - I ndon't think I could ever do that but the inspiration is wonderful. Thank you for sharing that one.
