Free motion help

This link from Bernina might be helpful to those of us who are free-motion challenged. I hope it helps someone.

Thanks for that link. I wish my machine had a stitch regulator on it. I've also found that feed dogs up is the best way for me when I practice free-motion quilting. Some of my problems are that I forget that I can STOP when I see myself getting into a jam. Also, when doing curly loops I find myself forgetting what direction to enter the my loops so they are not all going in the same direction. Maybe someday I will get better.

Like patting the top of my head while rubbing my stomach in circles.....

Thank you very much for the great link. I have Janome machines ( no BSR ) and have never tried FMQ with the feed dogs UP - I must give it a try.

Thank you for sharing. I have quilted with feed dogs up & it worked fine but I normally do it with them down. I think I heard that on Leah Days videos one time. I'm not a good FMQ by any means but I'm a lot better than I was last year & the year before etc. I look back at some of my stuff & my stuff now & there is a definite improvement. Takes a lot of practice & a lot of searching the web for tips & videos. Everything helps. There are also great books out there with invaluable material in them & Craftsy has some awesome videos. It has been a fun journey for me the past 30 years or so. I haven't FMQ all that time but I pieced tops & tied quilts for 30 years or maybe longer. Also this group of quilters right here are the best. Someone always has answers to about everything that you might have a question for & everyone is always ready & willing to help. I have said this time & time again about this group over the years.
