That's a great video for getting started, Jean. I really like Patsy Thomson's FMQ style and have one of her books that has been quite helpful along the way. I sometimes refer to it to get ideas when I'm working on developing new motifs. Thanks!

WOW, that is the easiest method I have ever seen for preparing the quilt layers...thanks

thanks, i watched several. i had trouble recently on one quilt and gave up fmq. but now i may try again. i'd gotten good on doing feathers but at times have trouble with certain batting, fabric etc.

Like all things, I don't want to do the practicing to get good. I need to just set some time aside each week and practice. I am going to take a look at her videos so I can get inspired to move forward.

I refer often to her videos. I think she has the best beginner free motion video out there. I'd like to know whether anyone has tried and liked others.

Patsy Thompson is the best!!!! I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting her at our guild and than going to her workshop the following day. I have her dvd's (which are fabulous with thousands of different motiffs to learn), but the class was sooooo worth it, as she started out for beginners and at end of day we practiced feathers. She came around to all of us (16) doing a one on one showing us tips to helps us. Just a wonderful teacher and I call her the queen of free motion with Leah Day in second. Patsy's quilts are so beautiful. Quite a talented lady. So if you ever get the chance to meet or take a workshop, I would highly say go for it. And her dvd's are very easy to follow and she goes into great detail explaining and showing. Did I say I just love her?????

Kelly Jackson (I have a Notion/IHAN) originally recommended Patsy Thompsons' DVDs to me. I quickly fell in love with Patsy and have learned so much. I'm trying to build my library to have all her FMQ DVDs. I love to take them with me when I travel. I may have to give up my sewing machine, but somehow taking a few FMQ DVDs help. And, when I get back home I am ready to do more FMQ designs.

SewCalGal highly recommends Patsy's FMQ DVDs....and IHAN too!

good to know I will check her out...I want a book/teacher I can grow with and not have a book that has only basic designs or beginner specifically:)
