free software to design Bargello

Just wanted to share this link for designing Bargello quilts. I think it is fun and easy to use. If anyone has a problem just ask, maybe I can help. Enjoy! www.dgp.toronto.edu/~mcoahran/BarelloSketcher/download.html

Can hardly wait to play with this. I have always loved bargello and want to make some. Thanks.

Just downloaded this. thank you

Downloaded this but can't seem to get it to work. I have Windows 8. I tried installing/uninstalling but can't get it to work. Can't find the Help file. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I am getting ready to start my first Bargello. Can't wait to try this program. I'm not sure how to get my fabrics into the program. Would I take a picture of each fabric separately or just lay them out in a row. Does the program give instructions on how to photograph fabrics?

Sieg: I have windows 8 and had no problem. I just downloaded it and then opened it from the icon on the "start" window. I could not get it to open just from the directory. Marsh: I didn't actually upload any fabrics but I think if you scanned them and then imported them they should work similar to EQ. If the import doesn't work I would just use an approximation of the colors from the color wheel and then set a key to "translate" them. Another possibility is importing fabric samples from the manufacturer.

Marsh: Just realized I didn't fully answer your question. I would definitely scan one at a time. The order you put them into the pallet definitely has on effect on the dominance of the color.

Can I download the software,
I have a Mac.
Thanks

Grammy: If you have conversion software I would try that, but since I am on a PC platform I have no experience. Sorry. I am going to try to upload a picture of a design I made. Still not anything I want to make but kind of interesting. If you come up with something you like be sure and share.

We purchased Works IV app I will check if I can use that on our ISO 10.2 and let you know. Ok. :) It converted the files that Apple transferred for our Windows XL.

Marge Coahrando answered an email I sent to her. Very promptly I might add. She wrote to search for the program using the Windows 8 program search function. Move your mouse to the upper-right corner of the screen and a search box will appear. Type "Bargello" (without the quotes) into the search box and Windows 8 will find it and show you an icon you can use to start the program. It worked so now I'm going to go play. Thanks Emma!

Just downloaded this and it looks fantastic. I haven't done a Bargello yet, but this just might help me with my confidence level. Thank you so much.

Thank you!!

nstitches4u 06-16-2014 08:23 AM

Thanks. I might just get brave enough to try a bargello.

Emma - when you said scan your fabric's individually- what kind of a scanner should I have?

davis2se 06-22-2014 04:32 AM

I have Windows 7 and although the download appeared to complete, I can't actually get into the program. I can see all of the folders and files, but that is as far as I can get. I hate being so computer impaired!!!

Davis: Don't know whether this will work but try going to the list of programs and click on it or if the icon showed up on your desktop just click from there. I had a similar problem with eight, for some reason the SW doesn't open from the file itself. If this doesn't work the creator was very helpful.
