I love this method as well and would be good for a large quilt. Quilting a large quilt by machine can be very challenging.

My concern with this technique is that there is only one row of stitching holding the edges of the blocks together - I would be concerned about the stitching ripping...or doesn't that happen???

This is indeed a risk, but I sew the blocks strong stitching together
(as the bottom of the pants ...).
