A gadget

Hi everyone,

A while back some one posted this on the board, Get-It-Straight Laser Square,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyTDMREuYjs

and I was wondering if anyone bought it, how do they like it, and is it worth it?

Thanks,

SueDor

I bought a laser light at Harbor Freight. Cheap. I can put it on my cutting table. It's not a square, but you can use the grid lines on the cutting mat. Or I could go back and buy another one.

This Get-It-Straight Laser Square would work for individual squares but what about the larger and larger quilt top? How much is it?

I can't see the need for using it to square blocks. I think one to square a finished quilt would be more useful.

Amazon has it for $48 i think....nancy notions has it for $69

Just use your ruler. The YouTube video looks good EXCEPT if you look closely, her square is not really square in the L bracket. The vertical edge slightly swings out from the Laser square edge, a human error not the instrument. Thus you can still make mistakes using this expensive tool.

I got a laser square recently, to be able to square up my quilt. I'm sure that it could be used for the same purpose that this woman used it. It seems like someone trying to find more uses for that product. I sure wouldn't buy it for quilting based on that video. I guess I just have more places to put my $.

I'm usually the first one to buy any new quilting tool but this one doesn't seem worth it to me. I'm not that much of a perfectionist to care if my strip piecing is that straight.

Exactly what did you purchase at Harbor Freight. Is it a lazer that attaches to a ruler or what?

I use my ruler to square up my quilts...I probably would not be able to master something like that...
