Going out of Business Sale

I posted awhile back that this quilting store is going out of business. They are having the final online sale, and are selling 10yds of fabric for $25.00. You don't get to select the fabric, just wide categories - all kids, no kids, etc.

I'm not affiliated with this store. I have purchased fabric from them, and the quality was always good. If you need to rebuild your stash, here's a way to start.

It always saddens me when I see quilt stores go out. We just had one near us close last month.

Raggiemom 12-26-2011 06:51 AM

Thanks for the info, that's a terrific sale.

GypsyRse1 12-26-2011 06:51 AM

I was going to order from them but $100 worth of fabric was going to cost $46 to ship.... say what?

willferg 12-26-2011 07:32 AM

Check with them via email -- sometimes the online computer system adds up too much shipping. The store should be able to give you a more accurate shipping quote.

Sounds like it is worth checking out.

SewMomma66 12-26-2011 02:08 PM

I could not see any of the pictures. I will try to log on at home. Thanks for the heads up and how sad. I hate this.

I ordered before from this store. I was satisfied with the fabric, very nice, but I had to call and find out why the high shipping on my order total when even I could see on the post office site it was way too much. The store did lower the shipping but if I hadn't called I doubt they would. I asked then why the website was calculated for the shipping to be so high and was told it was going to be looked into. I'm not a business owner but I bet many many orders were cancelled when the high shipping was added to the order.

quilterella 12-27-2011 01:16 AM

I just went to checkout there. For 10yds fabric & 1 book totalling $45.00, the shipping would have been $54.00. Great sale, but, shipping will kill you.

quilt1950 12-27-2011 06:57 AM

WOW, shipping seems to be a real issue. I just did a test case with 20 yards of fabric. Shipped to my home, about 15 miles, the shipping was $10.65. I changed the address to Spokane, Washington, and the shipping was over $24.00. This was priority mail. Is that how priority mail works?

If you read the small print, they say they will use the flat rate envelopes, and adjust the credit card charges. If I were ordering, I would be calling them to verify that will really happen!

pinkberrykay 12-27-2011 07:37 AM

I did a test cart and shipping to my address is $10.65. I also contacted them regarding the pictures so hopefully that will get fixed.

I'm so disappointed...when I go to their site, I don't get the pictures of the fabric. I get that little tiny red X up in the left hand corner. Anybody know what I an do to see the fabric???

No pictures either. Missouri Star Quilt Company has great fabrics, great prices and video tutorials. They charge a flat $5.00 on all orders no matter how much they weigh. This week they are offering free shipping!!!
Love MOSQC :):)

I live near by. I had thought last week was their last week. I am heading there now thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear ypur LQS is closing down-ours closed down about 2years ago and we still miss it.

I'm sorry to hear about this quilt shop going out of business. I hope it is for a good reason, and nothing sad.... My main (only) competition has announced plans to close their shop, and I'm really sad (and a little worried), as I will be the only quilt shop in the country...

BUT, help them out and buy up the leftover inventory. They will be thrilled to have some cash coming in!!

penski 12-28-2011 09:52 AM

thank you for the site but i could not get the pictures of the fabric to load i will have to try it later

I just went on the website and bought some fabric from them. Then I went to the About Us section to see if I could find out why they were closing, and the owner said her mom (co-owner?) had a stroke in July and it has been too much to do both. Good luck to them!

Debbr63 12-28-2011 11:51 AM

I will miss them dearly, it was one of my favorite quilting stores! Always had a great selection and wonderful classes! Deb

Perhaps the shipping is killing them. That's too bad.

Oh, I'm so sorry I posted before reading all. The above post says that her mom is ill. They are all in my prayers.

kathyd 12-29-2011 06:13 AM

Thanks for the link. I ordered a few pieces totalling 24 yards and shipping was only $11! I didn't think that was bad. I ordered what I hope will be some nice big pieces to use for backings, couldn't pass up the prices.
With everyone else has said I agree it is sad when a shop closes. I hope the next adventures in their lives is successful!

probles 12-29-2011 11:37 AM

I hate to hear of another quilt store closing. I just received notification a couple of days ago of one of the two in Grass Valley CA closing soon, too. It is going to get harder and harder to be able to walk into a LQS and smell, touch, feel, etc., the wonderful fabrics they carry. We have all got to group together and go in every month and buy something from them. Let's do our work to keep them open......

Best friends quilt shop posted $40 to my credit card on 12/30/11 and I have not received my order nor have I been ablet to get an answer via phone or email. Does anyone know what is happening here? Are they out of business and do ;you think I should contact my credit card to not pay that bill?

quilt1950 01-07-2012 06:19 AM

Unfortunately I would contact your credit card company. I think that an order shipped on 12/30/11 would have arrived by now. I just checked the website, and it indicates that the online store is shut down. I believe the store is also closed. The store was reopened for one day (and I think it was 12/30/11). I went, and there wasn't much left.

MEA CULPA! Best friends is not at fault; missing shipment is from another store.

RUSewing 01-07-2012 06:33 PM

Went to this quilt shop today and the website said it had closed. Good luck, Jerseygirl .
