Great Article About MSQC!!

They posted this on Facebook. It must be a local media source. I want to go visit there so much. I live only four hours away!

I love Jenny's tutorials. I'm so happy for them that they are doing so well.

It was a great news piece. Made me laugh when they said that 2/3 of the mail going out of the Hamilton Post Office is from MSQC. They are also the largest employer in their county. Hopefully the good folks of Hamilton are very happy with their success.

I plan on going there this summer, may just wait til the retreat is open. How cool that would be.

The Kansas City TV news station was in their shop today filming a story for the news. I saw it on MSQC Facebook page.

The shop is worth a stop if you can do it. It's on the way from here to Nebraska (in laws) so I've done it. Everyone who works there is very friendly and it's set up so you can watch Jenny filming tutorials if she happens to be doing it while you are there.

I love going there - only 45 minutes away! Everyone there is so nice and so helpful.

Jenny and her family deserve many, many kudos for taking a risk in a "down" economy and helping revitalize the town. I just love Jenny's enthusiasm and sensibility when it comes to all things quilting. Love her tutes!

One step at a time. One person, one family is all it takes. So many post offices are closing. Glad to see Hamilton needs additional personnel to keep the mail flowing. Big Kudos to the Doan family.

Thanks for posting. Love the article and love Jenny and her tutorials!

Wonderful!! I can not tell you how much I would love to travel to MSQC. Wouldn't it be fun to take Jenny to lunch. She has provided all of us with hours of pleasure. I am sure I would buy out the shop. Her enthusiasm is contagious.

So happy to see this. I often get ready for work with a MSQ video playing on my iPad!

I love how much they give.. its not all about take with them.. order something and get an e-mail that is cute and funny about the shipment.. receive the package and get a personal note from the warehouse.. Those are not seen with other companies.

What would our quilting community be like without MO Star Quilt Company? Love Jenny's tutorials!

duckydo 06-13-2013 02:27 PM

Jenny just makes you feel like she is the friend next door that you can ask to share her hints, she makes everything looks so easy!

KLO 06-13-2013 04:07 PM

What a great story! I love watching Jenny on youtube. She is so personable. Kudos for the family for stepping into their dream when the economy was in the tank and they are in a small town. I hope the business continues to boom.

katkat1946 06-13-2013 06:46 PM

It was a really great story, wasn't it! So happy for them - and envious of you for living that close!

jmoore 06-14-2013 02:56 AM

Can't wait to see Jenny! Our guild is sponsoring a workshop with her in August.

It's great to hear success stories on small town businesses.

kskwilter 06-14-2013 06:21 AM

I live about an hour from Hamilton...friends and I make a trip there at least every couple of months!!! It is wonderful...and everyone is super helpful! Well worth the travel time!!!There are a couple of other shops that we usually stop at on our road trip between KC and Hamilton..

Barbara Antman 06-14-2013 07:33 AM

Jenny is so down to earth. She shows you don't need to spend thousands on a sewing machine. Her patterns are great, and her tutorials are simple to follow. My kind of quilter!

cricket_iscute 06-14-2013 10:35 AM

It is a heartwarming story. One person's vision extended to the family and then to the quilting community and then the town and out into the world. How cool is that! I am very proud of Jenny Doan. Talk about having faith!

maryellen2u 06-14-2013 02:25 PM

That's so true. Jenny is a quilters Oprah! It is all so fun and positive. I think that is what makes her, her tutes and family etc. all so special. Many of us have been on the short end of things. It's nice to see just regular folks make it big and in a little town too. I wish them years and years of success and well-being. I hope she never runs out of ideas and patterns!

caspharm 06-14-2013 04:18 PM

Amazing story! She's like eQuilter, but with much better videos.

ShabbyTabby 06-14-2013 04:55 PM

I love Jenny and I think her youtube tutorials have inspired so many women to start quilting. I know I have almost all of her tutorials on my computer. Many blessings to her and her family may they continue to prosper.

Diana Lea 06-15-2013 08:11 PM

Jenny has been blessed with a great talent, and family and she shares her talents with all. Stopping buy on our trip to denver this fall.I am thinking of getting her and staff some choc.

carolaug 06-16-2013 03:34 AM

wonderful article!!! So glad they are doing so well. They are very smart business people...they have also taught so many to quilt and continue to share. More quilt shops should do the same and they would see their profits go up. MQC is so friendly and helpful!!

zennia 06-16-2013 05:50 AM

Thank You for the wonderful article. I am so happy for their success. I love stories about real down to earth genuine people. Jenny seems the type who would love to sit and be happy to have coffee with us. I hope they keep expanding their business. Wish I could visit. Quilt stores in my area have that take it or leave it attitude.
Good Luck Dolans.
