I am definitely a con/starch....always have been.....

Silverfish like humid moist dark places. In the south any public bathroom with a floor drain will usually have silverfish around it. If you have them around your home so that food starch attracts them to eat your fabric then you need an exterminator and then an inspector to find the humid moist dark problem that houses them.

there are starches and stiffeners in fresh off the bolt fabric also. As noted above it is the conditions that bring them in, not the scent of starch.

Wonder where she did her pricing. Niagara she shows as the most expensive and Faultless as least, both are identical here, any store you want to go to, and exceedingly inexpensive.

It is a good article. I tend to use very little starch - Best Press unscented is my favorite for when I do. I usually try spritzing water first to relax the fabric and press, then if that doesn't work, I'll get out the best press. One of my LA teachers recommended using 50/50 water and Best Press when loading quilt backs on the frame rather than ironing, it works very well. I even use it on tops that have been folded for a while.

you don't even need the best press for getting wrinkles out of backing (or tops) that you spritz with water and then load on long arm--I always do that and can get out even the fold lines. I spritz, roll back and forth a couple of times, leave overnight to dry and no wrinkles the next day

I have been starching my fabric for years... never an issue with bugs.
