That's a new one for me - I usually butt the two edges together to make a crease. I'm going to try this next time - thanks!

Wouldn't have ever thought of that - thanks for sharing!

I struggle with this too but I will have to have the video handy the first time around or maybe all the times I try it. Since there is usually a big gap between quilt finishes.

Good one! My way is even easier. LOL. I was taught this, at the first Paducah quilt show I went to, by a quilter who just had her miniature quilt accepted to the museum. She showed me in less then a minute with a scrap strip piece. I still have that scrap piece! There is now a youtube video of how to do it. I tweak the pocket fold a little and it's perfect.
You can scroll to the time 2:55 to get to the part of ending the binding.

Thanks diamondee. I had never seen that method. I see that it works but can't for the life of me understand it. Will have to try it. Onebyone, do you have to hand stitch that little flap down after you fold over and stitch the binding to the quilt?

That's where the tweaking comes in. I pull the inside binding down narrower so the top lays tight and even across it. I use narrow bias binding and it works great. I think for wider binding it may need a stitch or two. I have tried and can do all the other binding end joining but I always revert back to this one because it is so fast and foolproof.

New to me as well, will give that a try. Thank you!

Thanks for the response. Will try this method too.

I saw this yesterday and saved it. So glad you posted it here. It looks amazing. Will definitely try it

They both look easier than using the F&P binding tool. Getting ready to finish sewing a binding on shortly, so will try the first tutorial on this one. Thanks for both tutes.

gram2five 06-02-2014 09:56 AM

Thanks for this! It makes it look so simple. I'm getting ready to put binding on my first "real quilt" and will definitely give this method a try.

grandmaemma 06-02-2014 10:21 AM

That's my most frustrating part of making a quilt...the entire quilt is fine...I attempt to sew the ends together and I bomb. Thank you...I'll try this.

diamondee 06-02-2014 07:59 PM

Thank you Onebyone, I hadn't seen that way either.

busy fingers 06-04-2014 03:18 PM

Thank you so much for that link. I struggle with this part of the binding everytime. No more by looking at this video.
