Great Tutorial on Joining Binding Ends

I've been using that video for a year or so now. Its a really awesome way to join the binding ends.

Very nice video. It is similar to what I normally do. However, next time, I will do it this way. Looks foolproof. I believe there was a discussion about this subject just a couple of days ago.

It would be sooooo much simpler if you would just put a triangle at the beginning end of the binding. Start sewing about 6 to 8 inches from that triangle. When you get to the end, overlap with the beginning and you cut off that end at the base of that triangle, which is the width of the binding, no matter what width your binding is. No rulers needed. The measurement is right there in the triangle.

No need for miles of binding left over at the beginning and at the end. You need enough binding to match the perimeter of the quilt plus the length of that triangle. With most of us, that is 2 or 2 1/2 inches.

Super video. Honestly I usually yell for my girlfriend and she helps me with the joining as I am nearly pathetic. But now I remember how I learned probably at least 30 years ago and this is really my preferred way. I know many others start with the ends already cut but even after going in 39 years of quilting, I tend to go with the method that works for me and the one I actually can remember. Doesn’t matter how you do it just as long as it comes out correctly without too much or too little binding to fit.

Pewa88 - Aimee also did a super job plus she added one step thst the guy didn’t do -and thst was to check thst the binding laid flat before cutting off the triangle. Aimee used to own a quilt shop in the Charlotte, NC area (I live about 30miles north of Charlotte) and she same and did some great programs for my Mooresville guild. Not sure if she still does, or if she is still in the area but need to find out as my smaller guild in Lincolnton would love to have her come and do a program.
