thats a lot of gluing.... I do use glue at times.. but this seems to go overboard with it.. I'd never get anything done if I took that long on every seam
It was a good video on how much to apply and the tips... they are difficult to find in small town America.... |
If I used this I would never get my quilts done. To much work for me.

I like how the seams match up perfectly. The only problem I have with glue basting my piecing is operator error. If I sewed a piece wrong by mistake, I would need to soak the pieces before I could use my seam ripper. I think glue basting sashing would be where I would use it most. It would be great to set the seams and cornerstones in place before sewing the long lines which have a tendency to creep.

Tartan, you do not need to soak if you make an error. I have been using this tecnique for many years and when I goof i just touch it gently with my iron and take the mistake apart. You also do no need to reapply much glue just put it back together and repress.

Love the glue basting, don't know about all of this on each seam, but I can imagine it with difficult ones. Of course, there is the fact that I won't be stabbing myself as much, lol.

I'm a big fan of glue, but this seems a little much for me. I do find it extremely useful when making binding. Before I started using glue, the joins of my binding always seemed to creep a bit. Same thing when joining the ends of the binding on a quilt; the glue assures me that everything stays put until I get it stitched down. And, of course, I LOVE :D :D using Elmer's to glue baste the quilt before quilting.
