Hancocks Flannel

I used up quite a bit of my flannels for the rag quilt, so I went to Hancocks. They sent me a flyer with a 15 percent coupon off total purchase.

I am not that interested in fleece but they had the anti pill fleece for $2.30 a yard and they had tons of selection. I loved their flannel selection, lot of polka dots and chevron. Some more like quilting designs than children's prints. They weren't too busy and it was kind of enjoyable. The flannel was 50 percent off, some of was $2.99 and then another 15 percent off.

I did notice the staff using a Fiskar's scissor sharpener. He said the fleece really takes it toll on the scissors and the tool helps. So I ended up getting one. I tried it at home on my Fiskars, and they seemed to work for me.

Just info in case anyone is out and about.

Thanks for the info...I always dull my scissors and end up using them for junk cutting....

I haven't used their flannel - does it pill up when washed?

I bought some of their flannels in polka dots and chevron. And I washed it up when I got home. I did not notice any pilling. The texture is a little different since I washed it, but not too bad.

I would suggest you try a yard and wash it. It might even depend upon the pattern or lack of it. I am happy with it since I will need a lot if I am to do another rag quilt.

(I think the sale goes off December 24.)

Well, I went to Joann's this time and found out their flannels are on sale. I was able to get their solid flannel for 2.49 a yard and then there was a coupon for another ten percent off total sale. I did end up picking up the rag quilting scissors because that is what all of this flannel is for. I am amazed on how much flannel it will need, but I am making a queen size. This time I want to use a layer of muslin for the batting. It was on sale at Hancocks for $1.49 a yard with a 20 percent coupon off total sale.

Helps to get some sales on this stuff.

Flannel is my favorite fabric--nothing better!

I like it too. It did work well on the rag quilt I just did. I looked at homespuns too but the flannel was a little cheaper. I remember when Walmart used to have the best selection of homespuns for $2 a yard. The other day I checked and there wasn't even one there.
