I looked at the site and they are selling a book - what is the technique?? or do you need to buy the book??

Looks like Simple charm blocks to me (4" or 5" charms...could be larger?)

There's one that looks like a rail block - but my guess would be it's just using striped fabric...great idea!

I have this book it is just charm squares with different sizes and colors show, I was not impressed, I could sew blocks together without the book. Yes and the one is just striped fabric. I thought it would be helpful for my 8 year old DGD but she had already made that kind of quilt.

Ok I just looked at the book and they sew columns together then lay out the backing and batting, Mark the center and sew the center two columns , flip open and press, add next column etc till you have all the columns sewn to the batting and backing. It is a kind of quilt as you go method. Bind and it is done.

I have this book...it is mostly 6x6"square and strips. Perfect for beginners. The library should have these w/o you having to buy one, What is the price you see quoted?

Could you give me some idea as to what projects may be in it before I decide to buy it? thanks

Up North 05-31-2010 09:16 AM

Pillows wall hangings, and quilts all made with 6 inch blocks also a simple tote bag, I really don't think it is worth it. The patterns are just different fabric or borders, Not much creativity. But if you are just starting and this is your first quilt It is a quilt as you go type project. There are 15 projects'

Hey! Thanks bunches. Think I will skip it. I make all of those things anyway!

I actually ordered this one from Barnes and Noble...I was glad they let me look at it before making purchase...very repetitive designs, not all that interesting. I really only saw that it gave ideas for using the same pattern over and over. As far as a new technique...no, just the same old thing with a new book cover!

I saw this book somewhere recently, flipped through it, thought much the same ... it MIGHT do for a beginner ... and are we REALLY talking about 90 min & DONE ?? hmmmm

MY question is ... HOW do a lot of these quilting books ever get published ?? So many books (& patterns) out now are all SO similar, few are really new ideas and many are just copycat techniques & patterns ...

I also have this book. I was thinking about donating it to the local 4H group.
