How do you see colors?

I took this test to see how well I "see" colors.
You might be surprised how you do on it....and that might explain some questions you have about why you "like" the colors you do, or why you have trouble picking out colors for your quilts.

I did them all correctly, but, then, I enjoy most the selecting of colors and the use of many values of color in my quilting. Let us know your personal results. :)

I got them all right also.

mcdugan 03-25-2015 04:41 PM

I was colorblind due to cataracts . I had no idea that I was colorblind until I had the eye test at my check-up. I couldn't believe that I couldn't see the numbers that I has always been able to see before. After the surgery on one eye, I couldn't believe the difference. It truly was like a miracle. Now, I'm scheduled for my 2nd eye surgery in early May. Can't wait for the double glorious colors. Especially nice to have it done in the spring!

I saw them all correctly.

juneayerza 03-25-2015 06:35 PM

I wish my seeing vision was as good as my color vision.

ManiacQuilter2 03-25-2015 08:51 PM

Thanks for the post Jan. Yes, I have taken this test before and still can see the numbers.

arheath 03-26-2015 04:43 AM

I had a little trouble with 1.

Sewnoma 03-26-2015 04:57 AM

I'll have to try it from home; here at work the system has the site blocked as "gaming or gambling", LOL. (That thing is wrong ALL the time)

WMUTeach 03-26-2015 04:58 AM

Missed just one. I was expecting just numbers and when the switch from numbers to letters came up. I missed that one.

Onebyone 03-26-2015 06:21 AM

I got them all right. I had a color test before and I filter out the light background when looking at any object. I see items as separate from the background. Weird but I can filter the background in too.

tessagin 03-26-2015 06:31 AM

I got them all correct. I like to do the camouflaged photos where lines on lines, some you have to squint to read or stare then look away in order to read what it says. Having been a hairdresser we studied color value for decades.

IrishgalfromNJ 03-26-2015 06:55 AM

I had trouble with the ones with letters because the z looked like a crazy 2 and I was expecting all numbers.

earthwalker 03-26-2015 07:20 AM

All correct, which I am pleased about. Have to see my specialist soon, I already have cataracts and some sun damage and the drugs I am prescribed aren't great for your eyes....but they keep me alive...which is a good thing.

Yes that is a very good thing!

I passed too - loved the music!! It was kind of tricky when it changed from numeric to alpha for a sec I thought I was seeing it wrong.

coopah 03-26-2015 08:43 AM

Tricky is part of testing, sometimes, but yes, it threw me for a loop, but figured it out in the five seconds. I had a boy who was colorblind when I taught. He had to read the colors on the crayons to know if he had blue or green. There was another set of colors he mixed up, too, but I can't remember what they were. Maybe I need a memorty test now? :D

memereof8 03-26-2015 08:58 AM

All correct!

meanmom 03-26-2015 02:48 PM

I got them all. I had the most trouble with the 4 th one I think. It was the first letter one. I read the letters ok but was trying to figure out what number it could be.

jmoore 03-26-2015 05:28 PM

no problems... thank goodness. LOL

lynnie 03-26-2015 06:02 PM

I got them all right. had a slight problem with two of them then got it.

sewellie 03-26-2015 09:40 PM

Not nice, Jan, to test your blind friend. LOL!! Interesting, but I must say I missed a few. But with sight in only one eye, I'm okay with that. :) It's interesting to see how many got them all. Hmmmm.

wendiq 03-27-2015 06:56 AM

I missed one.....have no idea which one and don't want to go through the test to find it again......I do not think I am color blind......

Same as me....thought it should be a number, and it was letters.

mommafank 03-28-2015 08:06 AM

Just to add to this thread, I am color blind. Found out years ago in psychology class and my professor did a little dance. He had been looking for a color blind woman for many years. I took this test and yes, still cannot see any numbers but the first one. I do pretty good with colors. The basic ones are easy as you are conditioned from the time you are born to know what they are and then when you see that you know it is blue or red etc. But there are lots of browns and greens that I cannot get right as well as dark blues and dark purples, lavender, gray and light blues mix me up. Golds and greens often also catch me up. I usually have to ask someone like hubby or daughter but sometimes I just ask the store clerks or another shopper to help me if I am not sure. Must say I have put some strange things together as I used to do beading and now quilting. So now you have actually heard from a real color blind female.

Interestingly enough, I have had to take a couple of these tests for physicals and when I told the examiner that I am color blind I was accused of lying.

nativetexan 03-28-2015 10:11 AM

Well, I took it and got one wrong. ZO. couldn't see it well enough but the rest were fine. Surprised me because one year after cataract surgery I can barely see to drive. minor surgery to come.

Geri B 03-30-2015 09:59 AM

I saw them all, but that music has got to go!!!!!!!

Rubesgirl 03-31-2015 04:42 AM

Already knew I was not color blind since I can spot minute differences in shades of colors, but it was fun and loved the background music!

Clmay 04-12-2015 08:06 PM

I missed 1.
