How often does JoAnn have 25% off total purchase and $29.99 on batting?

Today is the last day of a 25% off sale at JAF - 25% off total purchase online or in the store.

I'm considering buying another roll of the Pellon poly batting - 60" x 20 years for $ 29.99 less discount with free shipping. I don't need it yet but if this is a really special price I feel I should jump on it.

Thanks!!

I get coupons emailed to me at least daily - if not several times a day it seems. Sign up for the email specials if you haven't already.

PaperPrincess 03-15-2015 04:32 AM

WOW, how did you get a 25% off entire purchase coupon????

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 04:40 AM

I just went to their website. Isn't it there for everyone? The code is "share074" and it's a banner at the top of the page. Maybe they know I don't buy much and want to lure me in? Please let me know if you get see this banner too.

PaperPrincess 03-15-2015 05:02 AM

Yes, I looked thru all my emails and didn't see it. It's right on the home page of their web site. Duh.

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 05:45 AM

So....is a 25% coupon a rarity or an every day thing? Especially if I was only going to buy one item anyway - I don't need 25% off my entire order. I still haven't decided if I should get the 2nd roll of batting. I have to decide by the end of the day as this particular coupon expires.

I got the 25 percent off about a month ago, but it is still a good deal in my opinion.

It's not every day.

ManiacQuilter2 03-15-2015 06:30 AM

I don't think you can get free shipping if you need the coupon for the discount. They rarely offer both options.

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 06:32 AM

The particular roll of batting that I'm interested in has free shipping no matter what. Lucky for me!

I got the free ship too because that batting is on some kind of promotion (has been for a while). I only bought that batting so the total was way under their minimum for ship.

I am thinking maybe the price has gone up a little since I bought, I think it was $24.99??

You're right. I like it since it didn't make my quilts so heavy. Every quilt I made seemed like it weighed a ton.

I was wrong, it was $29.99 before too, in case anyone was interested.

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 07:05 AM

Thanks!! I was indeed interested. I bought in a month or two ago and thought it was $29.99 - 15% that time. But my memory......

Apparently mine too...

I can't imagine that this promotional price/shipping on that batting won't just disappear. It's been going on for a while.

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 10:22 AM

Yeah, I'd hate to find that next week this roll of batting is what they say the regular price is - $99. Do you think it ever cost that? I can't find this particular "promotional" product anywhere by JAF.

Funny - I make lap quilts and figure one roll would make 14. I told hubby I was thinking of getting another roll. He said I should get it, what the heck? Well, our house is not huge and this roll is the size of a person so I said I'd probably have to stick it in the attic. He asked how much I have left of my first roll and when I said I have enough for 13 more quilts, he said maybe I should just wait. I was thinking that too but gosh.....what if next week it costs $99? Ugh!!!!

NikkiLu 03-15-2015 10:34 AM

I doubt if you can use the 25% off coupon on that batting as it already has a discount on it. Let us know if it works. How do you like the batting???

KenmoreGal2 03-15-2015 11:08 AM

I am a new quilter and before buying this batting I used pre-owned fleece throws as batting. I have used real batting before at the charity quilt group I belong to. So....with my limited experience, I thought it was just fine.

I bought it a couple of months ago and I was allowed free shipping plus the discount. It was very very inexpensive compared to just about everything else I priced out.

I have it in my cart with the coupon and it did accept it. For me, even with state sales tax, it's less than $ 24.00.

I know what you mean. I think I figured you could get 5 queen size quilts of this roll.

This is a special promotion price and you can still use the 25 percent off as well as get free ship. I know I did at the last 25 percent off coupon sale. Good deal.

I like the batting. It is light but that is a feature I like.

susiequilt 03-15-2015 12:17 PM

Thanks! I ordered a roll to try it. The total was $23.96! Sounds like a good deal even if you double the batting.

I think it is a good deal too.

joym 03-16-2015 05:14 AM

I bought a roll and it is huge ( tall and heavy). It is very light weight. I felt I needed more batting, more thickness so I doubled it and whoa....the quilt (not yet quilted) is one big fat ball that I am not sure I can handle! I might just have to tie it instead of quilt it!

susiequilt 03-16-2015 05:44 PM

I got the shipping notice that it will be delivered tomorrow! That's fast.

KenmoreGal2 03-16-2015 06:03 PM

I'll be very curious to hear what you think of it susie. I am a quilting newbie and really don't know good batting from bad.

PS. I didn't buy it in the end. Hubby was right, I should use a lot more of the roll I already have first. Because as Joy said, it is a huge roll and it takes a lot of space to store.

Mitty 03-18-2015 03:42 AM

Joanne's always has some coupon on their website. Sometimes it's a percentage off one item, which sounds like it will work for you when you want to order your batting. I'm not sure if the single-item ones are good on sale items, because I don't use these and haven't paid that much attention to them. The one I see there now is for 30% off a regular priced item (some exclusions apply, like irons and sewing machines).

Sometimes the coupon is for a percentage off the whole order, including sale items. These are the ones I use, since it's not worth it for me to drive out there for one item, and it's not worth it to order one item online and pay for shipping. I think I've seen 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30%, but the 30% is rare. I've gotten some fabric for less than $3 a yard. Not nearly as nice as the LQS fabric, but it helped me build a small stash without spending thousands. Now that I'm not stash-building, I don't buy at Joanne's much.

It is lightweight, but I prefer it that way. Usually my quilts are so heavy and seem to weigh a ton. This works for me. I have never tried doubling up on any batting, though.

I like the percent off total purchase coupons too. I mostly use for staples that I go through a lot of, like batting or muslin. This particular batting has really worked out for me, the price is right and no shipping, so to get the percent off in addition is a bonus.

Guess what? They removed the free ship on this batting...I am glad I got it before they did.

Well, at least there is a discount, but I really liked getting a percent off discount and free shipping. I figured it wouldn't last forever.

Oh dear, perhaps I should have bought it?? I still have enough for 13 of the lap quilts I make so hopefully they will put free shipping back by the time I need it again. I put a roll in my cart as a test and got a $7 shipping charge. I'm glad you got the free shipping!

When I got it, it had the free ship. So I am like you, will keep checking to see if it goes back up with the free ship.
