How to quilt 2 inch squares using interfacing - I am so making this.
|
A few years ago I think Pellon had the grid interfacing for doing water colour wallhangings? I still have a chunk somewhere. I should dig it out and do something with it.
|
I love this process. I use the preprinted interfacing that's already gridded. This is great from preparing scrappy blocks. I even use hst with this gridded system. It's amazing how easy they are to work with once ironed to the stablizer. It gets all my scrapps used up and makes transporting them easy. These make great takke-a-longs for retreats when you need to sew but don't want to pin and stress over matching seams. It a great relaxer for retreats or any time.

I've seen something like that done before and totally forgot about it. I think I see a demo for my quilt guild in my future.... Thanks for posting this!

I am in the process of making a mondo bag using this grid method. So easy to work with. Other girls in my group have mase table runners using the grid method.

what a clever idea. i wonder how accurate i can be with it???!!! it is well worth a try.
|
thanks for sharing... never thought of making my own grid :)

I made this a few years ago - it came out really nice - but it's still hanging on my design wall - not sure what to do with it. It did take quite a while. Perhaps a cosmetic bag : )

My postage stamp is still a UFO. I might have to give this a try when I finally get back to it.

My first quilts ever were made with the grid lining. It wasn't adhesive but did have a surface that held the blocks in place very well. I made several baby quilts with this before I got brave enough to move on. Thanks for reminding me of this process!

A friend gave me some of that grid stuff about 10 years ago...it's still in the plastic bag...
|
I use it when I do quilted photos. I also use it (1" size") when I need fusible interfacing. If I need a piece 7" by 9" I can just count off the squares and cut it to size.
|
Oh My! This is very nifty. I've often wondered how people who work with teensy tiny pieces can maintain their sanity and figured something like this was certainly "not for me". BUT, I love "odd" techniques like this and will certainly give it a try -- maybe do a block for a pillow cover.

I have made several wall hangings using the pre-printed 2" grid. It is fast and easy. You can buy several different kits using this method. You can check my stuff out on my webshots below:

I'm going to try this with 1.5" and 2" squares ... sounds like it should work. I've been hand stitching those together for quite a while with small scraps in hopes that someday I'll have a quilt. Thanks!
|
what a wonderful idea! I'll have to give this a try!
|
Never thought about cutting the seams so they could be pressed open - that would definitely make it lie flatter!
|
I did a doll quilt like this. I liked the finished project although it was a little on the stiff side. Maybe it was the interfacing I used.
|
What a clever way to do this. Thank you for sharing

I used this process making a water color quilt. It is fun to do. This makes me want to do it again!

LOVE this method,I have pics in my albums of some mini tops I did using 1 inch, 2 inch and 1 X 2 inch pieces. Love minis, used this method to do the ones in my avatar.

Awesome - I know I have some of those in my stash too!

I learned something today. Thank you. Now too bad I didn't know this a couple of months ago when a customer asked me about the interfacing to do this. Now I know which one it is. Yes I will give this a try. Again thank you.
