Thanks for the link. Will probably purchase an inexpensive one.

The razor is much too easy to damage the fabric!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a Wahl version, the folks who make the hair cutting equipment, at a quilt expo. It is without a doubt the best and easiest seam ripper I've ever used. It will not cause any damage to the fabric. One downside is that if you used a lock stitch to start your seam you will need to remove those extra stitches first. Then using the Wahl seam ripper the rest is a breeze. It really is not expensive when you look at the advantage of super fast seam ripping, something I find myself doing with every project. I'll learn someday, but until then this seam ripper is my buddy.

It didn't seem any quicker or much easier than any other method. I usually use my scissors for clipping and my ripper for picking. I have to check and double check that I only have threads in the blade before I snip! But "tug, tug, snip" doesn't take long at all.

I just read much the same on a list of tips from The Quilt Show (Alex Anderson, etc.), but they mentioned holding one side of the seam to be ripped under the presser foot of your sewing machine, i.e., the third hand. That would really speed things up. I think I'll look for one of those this weekend.

It would be great for those times when you've added row after row only to discover you got something completely reversed in the process (unfortunately, I've done that more than once).

Happy froggin' !
